Crowbeare Farm - Taw

Photo: Philippa Lucas

Crowbeare Farm – Taw is a converted milking parlour on a working farm outside Great Torrington, sleeping two in a single galleried bedroom that overlooks the surrounding fields. The property occupies its own space within the farm complex, accessed via a private lane, with the owner nearby but your own entrance and parking. It suits couples or those wanting countryside peace without isolation: a pub lies within a mile, and Great Torrington's shops and amenities are a short drive away.

The layout is open plan on two levels. Downstairs holds the living area with Freeview television and DVD player, a dining space, and a kitchen where you can prepare proper meals using the electric oven, gas hob and full range of appliances. The bathroom has a bath with shower over. Upstairs, the galleried bedroom looks toward the fields and contains a double bed. The essentials – electricity, heating, bed linen, towels and wifi – are included. A patio with garden furniture sits on the south-facing side, and there is a stream nearby on the farmland. No smoking inside the property.

A good, well presented cottage, friendly owners and lovely location, though lanes approaching it are challenging! Great value for money.
