Crowbeare Farm - Torridge

Great Torrington's historic centre lies within easy reach, but Crowbeare Farm itself sits at the quiet end of a private lane, surrounded by open countryside and streams. The property was converted from an old milking parlour and retains its original stone and brick exterior. A working farm with a small herd of pedigree South Devon cattle, it offers something genuinely different: the animals are docile and friendly, and calves arrive from early to late summer. The setting is genuinely peaceful rather than isolated—a pub is within a mile, and the town's attractions are close enough for a short drive or explore-by-foot days.
Crowbeare Farm sleeps 4 across 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Downstairs, the main bedroom has a zip-and-link kingsize (which can be split into two singles on request) and an ensuite wet room with a shower seat and grab rail; this room has level access from the parking area and a ramp from the living room to the south-facing patio, making it suitable for wheelchair users or anyone with mobility concerns. Upstairs, a double bedroom with an ensuite bath and shower completes the layout. The kitchen is equipped for real cooking—electric cooker, dishwasher, fridge-freezer and washing machine—and the living room opens onto that patio, where garden furniture invites you to settle in. A small enclosed courtyard provides private outdoor space, and parking for 2 cars is on site. Electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are included. The property is non-smoking.

A good, well presented cottage, friendly owners and lovely location, though lanes approaching it are challenging! Great value for money.
