About Top of the Rock Glamping
Top of the Rock is a very small campsite in the Powys hills near Trefeglwys, with just one to ten pitches. It takes tents and offers the kind of intimate, low-density experience where you are unlikely to find yourself surrounded by neighbours. The setting is remote with spectacular scenery and mountain views, and the site sits on a working farm.
Facilities are basic but functional: showers and a composting toilet. Campfires and barbecues are allowed, and the site welcomes walkers, cyclists, mountain bikers and dogs year-round. It is set up for groups too, including rallies and single-sex parties. Canoeing, kayaking, fishing, sailing and golf are all nearby, along with a restaurant, shop and farmers' market. The bar is close by, and Original Hideaways is just next door.

I've stayed 3 times and will do again a couple of times next year. Just love the place. Guy and Julia are great hosts and the shepherds huts and clean and well equipped with their own enormous stock fenced fields are awesome. dog friendly with Jesse's down the road for a restaurant and takeaways in Llanidloes nearby. I wouldn't stay anywhere else. Nothing is too much trouble - thanks for a great stay!

We stayed in one of the Shepherd's Huts with our three Cocker Spaniels and had an absolutely fantastic time. The hut was spotless, comfortable and in a stunning location with incredible views across the Welsh countryside. Guy couldn't have been more welcoming. He genuinely went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed and that we had a great stay. Nothing was too much trouble. Having exclusive use of the field in front of our Shepherd's Hut was brilliant. It meant our three slightly mad Spaniels had somewhere safe to run around and burn off some energy, which made the stay even more enjoyable. I should also apologise for ignoring Guy's advice on arrival! I turned left instead of following his directions and managed to get our truck stuck in the yard. Thankfully he took it all in good humour while I had to use the diff lock on our "pavement princess" for the first time! 😂 We had an amazing stay and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Top of the Rock to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway in a beautiful setting, especially if you're travelling with dogs. Thanks again, Guy. We'll definitely be back!

Such a beautiful & secluded place. Stayed there over the weekend during a storm and felt so cosy and peaceful. The owners are incredibly welcoming, would recommend to anyone who is looking for somewhere to escape to the countryside for a while!

An amazing place to stay, such a peaceful location, friendly staff that go above and beyond for your needs, very clean and perfect little getaway. Took my puppy and 4year old so with a field for personal use attached really helped with space for them to run their legs off. Close to lots of nature walks and hikes. Will definitely be booking again.
