What visitors say
A visit to Amazonia Zoo offers a unique and enjoyable experience, especially for families and animal lovers looking for something a bit different near Glasgow. Unlike traditional zoos, Amazonia focuses on recreating a tropical rainforest environment indoors, making it a great attraction regardless of the weather. One of the most interesting aspects of Amazonia Zoo is its immersive setting. As soon as you enter, you’re surrounded by warm temperatures, lush greenery, and the sounds of exotic wildlife. The zoo is home to a variety of animals, including monkeys, parrots, reptiles, and small mammals. Visitors can get up close to creatures like meerkats, snakes, and colourful birds, which adds to the excitement and educational value of the visit. The zoo is relatively small, which can be both a positive and a negative. On one hand, it’s easy to explore everything in a short time, making it perfect for a quick day out or a visit with children. On the other hand, some visitors may feel there are fewer animals compared to larger zoos, and the experience might seem brief. Staff at Amazonia are generally friendly and knowledgeable, often sharing interesting facts about the animals and conservation efforts. The interactive elements and feeding times can make the visit more engaging, particularly for younger visitors. However, the indoor environment can feel quite humid and crowded during busy times, and ticket prices may seem a bit high considering the size of the attraction. Overall, Amazonia Zoo provides a fun, educational, and slightly exotic experience close to home. While it may not be as extensive as larger zoos, its rainforest theme and interactive atmosphere make it well worth a visit—especially for families and those interested in wildlife.

Could be bigger and more animals. It can be checked out in 30 mins easily. Good thing is there are plenty of other playthings and activities around the place with food court and more. Otherwise it is a nice addition to the park and compliments the activities around. Can be crowded though.

We had an incredible time at Amazonia! The staff were exceptionally friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about the animals. The variety of species was amazing, from reptiles and birds to exotic mammals, each one more fascinating than the last. The animal handling sessions were worth extra pound which lasted for 15 to 20 minutes, offering a hands-on experience that was both fun and educational.
