Glyndley Manor Cottages - Cottage 18

Photo: Glyndley Manor Cottages

Pevensey sits where the Wealden landscape meets the Channel coast, and Cottage 18 occupies the middle ground between both. The village itself holds medieval roots, while Pevensey Bay is a short drive away with its shingle beach and water sports, and the South Downs rise inland with walking trails and open downland. The cottage stands within the Glyndley Manor Estate grounds, a quiet rural setting despite being close to everyday things.

The building is single-storey and self-contained: two bedrooms (one kingsize, one with two singles), a shower room, and an open-plan kitchen and living space on the ground floor. Everything you need for cooking and eating is provided, along with a smart TV for evenings in. Bed linen and towels are included, as is Wi-Fi and heating. There is parking for one car, a sitting area with garden furniture, and access to the estate's shared swimming pool and launderette. The cottage does not permit smoking.

This works well for families or two couples wanting a quiet base within reach of both coast and countryside—Pevensey Castle is nearby for history, the Pevensey Levels Nature Reserve for birdwatching, and Eastbourne's seafront is a short journey for shops and cafés.

Stayed here for the weekend, first time staying here and I cannot fault this place at all! Beautiful location with countryside fields and lake, a field with alpacas and wildlife. The cottage we stayed in was very clean and well stocked with kitchen utensils and other things like board games. The bed was really comfortable, place was very homely aswell. I would 100% stay here again but definitely for longer than a weekend!

Our stay was amazing, it has exactly the vibe as on the pictures. The garden center nearby is very handy to get a morning cappuccino or a groceries. There is bus stop close by so even without car the cottages are reachable. The common services did not work (washing machine, etc) during our visit but we did not mind.

I made a booking for one of their "pet friendly" cottages via booking.com. The listing did not mention anything about it being a maximum of one dog only or that there was an additional fee for bringing a dog. After booking, they sent me an email with a link to a portal and luckily I promptly accessed that and found a list of dog rules that said 1 dog only and that there was a fee of £25. I had already paid almost £300 and only had until midnight on the day of booking to cancel. If I hadn't checked the link so quickly and didn't find the rules in time then I would have lost all of my money on a booking I couldn't use because I have 2 dogs. I tried to sort it out before cancelling but they didn't respond to any of my emails before I ran out of time and was forced to cancel. I also called 7 times with no answer and left a voicemail that wasn't returned.

Lovely range of various sizes of cottages, great for a little or longer time away. We stayed in cottage 2 and fount comfortable and well equipped. Beautiful surroundings here, some nice walks and close to nice towns. There’s even a place to charge your electric vehicle.
