Magham Down sits in quiet Sussex farmland between Hailsham and the South Downs. Romney Wagon is a traditional showman's wagon, restored and set up as a self-contained holiday let on the property grounds. It's the sort of place where the setting matters as much as the building itself—two paddocks and a sitting area face open countryside, and the Cuckoo Trail, a walking and cycling route along a former railway line, runs nearby for exploring the landscape without straying far.
The wagon itself is compact and ground-floor throughout. A living room contains a pull-out double bed, the bedroom holds a 4ft 6in double, and there's a kitchen with a two-ring hob and electric oven for basic cooking. A separate shepherd's hut on the grounds houses the bathroom, which has a bath with shower attachment and heated towel rail. Bed linen, towels and electricity are included. The property has parking for two cars and a garden area to sit out in. Smoking is not permitted.
Hailsham itself is a market town with shops, cafes and a weekly market if you want to stock up or grab a meal out. Michelham Priory, a moated medieval house with gardens, lies a short drive away, as does Alfriston village with its pubs and tearooms. The South Downs National Park is also within reach for a day's walking or cycling through rolling hills.
