Chestnut House is a four-bedroom cottage at Sherrill Farm, a converted barn complex set across 16 acres of Devon farmland between Tavistock and Launceston. The whole property is yours alone. It sleeps 12 across four bedrooms: two with kingsize beds and ensuite bathrooms, and two with three single beds each and their own wet rooms. There are five bathrooms in total. The ground floor has a living room with woodburner, separate dining room, and a kitchen with electric cooker, dishwasher and washing machine. One room on this level contains a sofa bed.

The private hot tub is a fixed feature of the garden, along with parking for three cars. Inside, bed linen and wi-fi are included; logs for the woodburner are provided. The farm sits in rolling countryside near Dartmoor, close enough to explore both Devon and Cornwall easily. One dog is welcome. You cannot smoke inside.

The wider farm complex has a 12-metre heated swimming pool (open year-round, 8.30am to 9pm), shared tennis court, small gym, games room, skittle alley and children's play area. Fishing rods are available to hire. The approach is by private driveway off the main road.

We had 2 of the properties as we were a family of 12. This is a lovely property with loads of activities on site from the pool and games room to the fishing lake. The whole family loved the houses and facilities with my nephews really enjoying the opportunity to fish in the peaceful privet lake. The houses are a 15 minute drive to the nearest town with plenty of shops and an all week craft type market. Lots to do within 20-30 minutes drive so you won't get bored.

We came to get away from It all and was not disappointed, we stayed in Great Meadow a very quiet tranquil cottage with a massive wood burner and endless supply of logs, there is also electric heating if fire is not your thing, also washing machine, dishwasher, microwave and large fridge freezer, WiFi 6 was excellent and there was Freeview and a Roku box available. I would definitely stay here again & highly recommend anyone give it a try for a quiet retreat 👌🏻

Second time staying at Sherrill Farm. The farm itself in perfectly situated on the Cornwall/Devon border making travel to so many beautiful places easy. Even though youre only a few miles from Launceston with it's useful amenities, it feels like you're in the middle of nowhere, solid 5* for location. The cottage we stayed in ( Fennel) was very spacious & clean, with all the mod cons needed for a week's stay. Original stonework & beams adds to the charm of the place. The only slight down is the fact its looking a little tired, our two stays were spaced 9 years apart & other than a different TV, nothing had changed in that time (from recollection) For on site activities theres a lovely little circular walk around the lake, ideal for stroll with dog. The tennis court wasn't great, looks like it hasn't been maintained in a while. One of the main selling points to us was the swimming pool, last time we visited we had some great fun there, ideal for those rainy days with kids. This time, although we enjoyed the pool, we did have an issue with being accompanied by little grass snakes in the water! This happened multiple times and whilst I appreciate that out in the countryside these things can happen, probably worth pointing out to anyone with a fear of snakes! There is also a games room with pool table, skittles & table tennis. Great idea, but again, very tired & poorly maintainedm The owner was really friendly, his dog Scruffy was always a regular visitor to our cottage, lovely old dog. I would definitely recommend a stay here, first time visit i gave 5 stars and although we had a really nice stay, I would reduce slightly due to the place needing a bit of work to bring it back up to speed. Overall, very good value for money, compared to similar cottages in the region, so I can excuse these minor issues, but thought worthwhile to point out that with a little face lift it would be perfect.

Really nice holiday cottage. We stayed in "fennel" only downside I would say, the beds definitely need a new mattress. The upstairs, double, I slept in was quite lumpy. Other than that, we all had a fantastic stay. There's a pool and games room. Gym is small and not much in it. One of the treadmills doesn't work. The little dog scruffy is so cute. He lives at the farm and comes in to visit if you leave the door open.
