Barn End

Walking through Barn End is like stepping into a proper family base. Ground floor has a living and dining space with woodburner and smart TV, plus a kitchen fitted with electric oven, range, dishwasher, microwave and slow cooker—everything you need to cook properly rather than just reheat. There's a separate utility room with washing machine, and a toilet just off the main rooms. Upstairs, four bedrooms sleep seven: a super kingsize, two regular kingsize beds, and one single, each with its own TV. The bathroom has a bath, walk-in shower and heated towel rail.

The property sits on an acre of grounds in Watermillock, a few hundred metres from Ullswater's edge, with views across the lake from the garden. An enclosed back patio and seating furniture mean you can sit outside without the wind catching you. Parking fits four cars on-site, and there's a lockable bike store if you're planning to bring your own or want somewhere secure for sports kit. Bed linen, towels, WiFi and the initial load for the woodburner are all sorted. One well-behaved pet can stay free. No smoking in the house.

Walks start from the door, and Aira Force waterfall is within reach for a morning out. Local pubs are within a mile. Ullswater steamers run cruises if you want to see the lake from the water rather than the shore.
