Christopher’s Cottage

Westmorland and Furness

Appleby is a market town on the River Eden where the Settle-Carlisle railway line runs through, bringing steam trains in summer and occasional visits from heritage locomotives. The North Pennines and Alston are within easy reach, and Hartside Pass—climbing to almost 2000 feet—opens up dramatic countryside drives. The town itself has castle ruins to explore, local shops and cafés, and a pub within a mile of Christopher's Cottage.

The cottage is a one-bedroom property sleeping two, recently renovated with underfloor heating and a thoroughly modern kitchen. Downstairs has a living room with a smart TV, a kitchen-diner with an electric oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine, and a shower room. Upstairs is a king bedroom with an ensuite toilet and views of the front garden. A courtyard and sitting area sit behind, with garden furniture and outdoor space for sitting out. Wi-Fi, electricity, bed linen and towels are included; heating comes from an air source pump. The cottage takes one small dog, which should be kept on a lead in this sheep-farming country. Non-smokers only.
