Coniston sits at the heart of the Lake District, surrounded by fell walks, water sports on the lake itself, and forest trails. Hollin Bank Barn is a detached cottage on the edge of the village, positioned to catch views across Coniston Water towards the Old Man from its rear garden and windows. The setting combines rural quiet with easy reach of the village's shops, tearooms, pubs and galleries.
Three double bedrooms and two bathrooms serve six guests. Downstairs holds an open-plan kitchen and dining room that opens onto the south-facing garden, plus a sitting room with a wood-burning stove. Essentials including electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi are covered. Private parking accommodates three cars, and one well-behaved pet is welcome. The enclosed rear garden and wooded area to the side offer space to settle in. No smoking inside.
Tarn Hows and Grizedale Forest's cycling and sculpture trails lie a mile away. Coniston Water itself—a mile distant—offers kayaking, paddleboarding and boat hire. Walks range from gentle lakeside routes to the steep ascent of Coniston Old Man. The village holds the Ruskin Museum and various galleries exploring the area's slate mining heritage and its connection to water speed records. A pub sits within a mile of the property.

It’s been a while since I’ve been to the Lake District and I must say I was wowed by the stunning scenery. What a lovely cottage in the most wonderful location - with the lake and hills on your doorstep. I won’t be leaving it so long to return. I would thoroughly recommend

Had such an amazing time staying here it was so conveniently close to Coniston Water which was super helpful as me and my friends went kayaking additionally there are plenty of hiking trails around the cottage like Tarn Hows but most of all we loved seeing the stunning views from the cottage must go here again :) 10/10 experience
