The Lune Valley sits between two of England's finest walking country—the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales are each within twenty minutes' drive. The Waiting Room occupies this quieter middle ground, a converted station building now functioning as a detached bungalow. Gaisgill itself is small; the nearest pub is a mile and a half away, the shop two miles, which means this is genuinely rural territory, though the Settle to Carlisle railway line runs through nearby Kirkby Stephen for those without a car.
The whole property is yours alone. Ground floor living means no stairs: an open-plan sitting and dining area flows into a kitchen with full cooking facilities and a dishwasher. Two bedrooms—one with a king bed, one with two singles—each connect to the garden through patio doors. Both bathrooms are en suite or shared; the main one has a bath with a power shower over it. Wi-Fi, heating, electricity, bed linen and towels are included. There is parking on site and an electric car charging point (for a fee), plus a garden with raised patio and furniture. One dog is welcome; smoking is not.
The Howgills rise to the side, immediate fell-walking country. Walkers use this as a base for the fells and valley routes; drivers explore further into either national park. The converted station sits adjacent to the owner's home in a landscape of stone walls and open moorland.
