Urswick Road Cottages - Briar Cottage
Westmorland and Furness
Dalton-in-Furness sits between the Lake District fells and the coast, with enough history, outdoor routes and family attractions to fill several weeks. Briar Cottage is a renovated three-bedroom property that sleeps six, giving families or groups the space to spread out without booking multiple places. The ground floor holds an open-plan living and dining area with a kitchen equipped for proper cooking, plus two single bedrooms and a shower room. Upstairs, a double bedroom comes with its own ensuite. The cottage has been retrofitted with solar panels and underfloor heating powered by an air source heat pump, so heating and electricity are covered along with wifi, bed linen and towels. There is parking for three cars on site.
The immediate area suits people who want to walk—the Duddon Estuary is north, Coniston and Black Combe are accessible, and cycle paths run through the locality. South Lakes Wild Animal Park is nearby, and Ulverston with its restaurants and independent shops is a 10-minute drive. Lake Windermere is 20 minutes away if you want boating or lakeside stops. Dalton itself has pubs and cafés, and the medieval castle anchors the town centre. Families with young children will find a cot, highchair and stairgate provided. No smoking inside the property.
