About Old Colonial by Marstons Inns
Old Colonial by Marstons Inns suits travellers after an easy, no-fuss stay near the seafront rather than a boutique retreat - families breaking up a coastal trip, golfers and anglers using it as a base, or couples who just want a comfortable bed and a proper breakfast before heading out for the day. It sits on Knightstone Road in Weston-super-Mare, with parking on site, which locals and visitors alike find useful in a town where that's not always guaranteed.
Rooms are generally spacious with en-suite bathrooms, and family rooms are available for those travelling with children. Beds get consistent praise for comfort, and drinks can be brought to the room. That said, upkeep in some rooms has been flagged as inconsistent, so it's worth setting expectations accordingly rather than for anything five-star.
There's a restaurant and bar on site, along with outdoor seating, free WiFi and 24-hour reception, and the freshly cooked breakfast is a regular highlight. Staff are consistently described as friendly and welcoming. Beyond the hotel, the area offers golf, fishing, cycling routes and watersports, plus further pubs and restaurants nearby for evenings out along the Somerset coast.
What guests say
The room was lovely and spacious BUT! It was dirty, we found hard food on the side and it had not been hoovered. Very tired and shabby. There was a sofa bed in the room that looked like it should have been in the skip. Needs a complete refurb. It’s a shame because the location and view of the seafront was lovely. The breakfast was lovely but we had to go and ask to see what to do?! The waitress was just standing behind the bar watching us? Why didn’t she come over to explain the system!

We used to love coming here when my son was younger but a bit disappointed this time as the bar was closed by 9pm if not earlier. The rooms are lovely and spacious with comfy beds it has all you need, can't fault the rooms. Bar area needs some updating the carpets are very old and worn and didn't seem to have been hovered. The food is nice enough and staff friendly.

Check in at bar, not really an issue, room was lovely, sea view, plenty of room. Bed big and comfy. Couple issues,we ordered food using the bar code, didn't go through to bar, then when it finally came out, we were not impressed at all, the young girl who served us, was very helpful, and changed it to something else. The next morning at breakfast which was included in our stay, we ordered, and to our mirror, we were told that it DOES NOT come with hot drink, this we had to order and pay for...I have never in any hotel, either in UK or abroad, not had a hot drink as part of breakfast.. saying that, the breakfast was really good... Overall a really lively room, good also lovely, just a few niggles.. would def recommend though.
