A straightforward seafront hotel on Weymouth's Esplanade, suited to travellers who want bay views and nightly bar entertainment without leaving the building.
About Russell Hotel
Russell Hotel suits visitors after an easy, sociable seaside break rather than a quiet retreat, with its position on Weymouth's Esplanade putting the bay right outside the window and the town's attractions within walking distance. It works well for couples or groups who like their evenings taken care of, thanks to a bar with live entertainment most nights and a restaurant on site for those who'd rather not venture out.
Rooms are bright, with several taking in sea views over the Esplanade, and all come with en-suite bathrooms, free WiFi and drinks available in room. A lift serves the upper floors and accessible rooms are available, while breakfast is included to set guests up for the day. The overall standard is comfortable rather than luxurious, so it suits those who want a reliable base over anything more polished.
Outside, Weymouth's seafront brings walking and cycling routes, plus watersports, fishing and golf nearby for more active days, and a good spread of pubs, restaurants and other eateries close by for evenings out. It's a fitting choice for anyone wanting to be right on the seafront with entertainment built into the stay.

Have stayed with Daish holidays and have never had an issue, this time at Russell hotel was completely different! The manager Silvio - absolutely shocking! The rest of the staff are absolutely amazing though, the restaurant team were clearly run off their feet but did everything with a smile. Tracy took the responsibility even though it wasn’t her role- Thankyou Charlotte- calm, considered, friendly and understanding. Definitely undervalued in this business, always smiling 😊 The reason for one star you may ask? Reported on Tuesday a leak from the lightbulb right outside our room. Nothing done by time I went down at 11pm but was past to the manager next morning. Went out early to avoid any issue expecting it to be fixed on return, it wasn’t, was actually worse. Spoke to Silvio, who with all his plumbing expertise said there were absorbent mate put in the roof and this was just residual water👀 Silvio promised it would be better, we went up to our rooms, and I guess it was in some ways as we couldn’t see anything 👀 instead of fixing the leak they just switched the lights off. This lead to elderly people have to try navigate buckets on the floor as well as a wet floor sign. All of this in a fire exit route! After a very detailed conversation(that I recorded for my notes and to annotate for future reference) I told Silvio I want 3 things 1 - the correct extinguishers to be placed in the hallways, electrical fires cannot use water but c02. 2- a temporary light to be placed so people could navigate the corridor 3 - compensation to be discussed Admittedly the first 2 were done - 3rd one he ducked out before we left just asking Charlotte to hand use a complaint form, what had we doing with him to begin with - absolute coward! Russel hotels and the wider group need to do better, was a complete health and safety risk, fire hazard and corporate dereliction of duty and any incident would have been corporate manslaughter. I expect you to be reaching out to the affected guests to find a resolution of face further action.

Love the Russell Hotel Weymouth. Was worried when I first stayed as I suffer with anxiety but that wasn't a problem as they are super friendly and welcoming. My mum visits a lot and they look after her even when travelling alone, they always make sure she is okay and is well looked after. Great staff from the manager to all of the reception staff , cafe staff, waiting staff, kitchen staff, bar staff and not forgetting the entertainment.

My experience at the Russell Hotel was extremely disappointing and frankly unacceptable. Upon arrival, there was an issue with check-in because the hotel refused to accept a UK driving licence as valid identification. This is unreasonable, especially considering the guest is a UK resident. A driving licence is a widely accepted form of ID across the UK, and the refusal caused unnecessary stress and confusion. What made the situation worse was the attitude of the manager. Instead of handling the situation professionally, the manager spoke in a disrespectful and dismissive manner to a female guest. The tone was inappropriate and lacked basic customer service standards. It felt uncomfortable and unwelcoming, which is the last thing you expect when arriving at a hotel. Overall, the experience left a very negative impression. Poor customer service and inflexible, unclear policies made the stay frustrating before it even began. I would not recommend this hotel unless they improve both their staff training and their approach to guests.

Lovely staff and a cute place to stay in Weymouth. This is a regular place for us as we enjoy it every year, and the staff always make it special for us. The food is a bit hit and miss, but there are plenty of places to eat nearby
