A fascinating place which not only has local history but also has an exhibition space downstairs with different exhibitions all the time. This is the second visit and I thoroughly enjoyed both times

This is a fabulous informative museum with excellent displays of boat models and the local area of Barrow in furness and what it is so famous for making. The staff are super friendly, warm, and welcoming. The onsite cafe is clean, friendly, and very reasonable price. It's free to park and enter with great children's play area outside.

Five stars for this museum! Not too big, so it holds your interest all the way round. Fascinating and beautiful models of the ships, and the historical information is so well presented, right from the earliest days of the area and how it all developed. Great fun to be able to put yourself into an old black and white photo, too! The museum is built over an old dry dock, so even more things to learn! To cap it all off, a lovely cafe with a huge mug of tea, and an excuse to have some cake too!
