About The Riviera Guesthouse

Whitby's clifftop setting near the Abbey makes it a natural base for exploring the North Yorkshire coast, and The Riviera Guesthouse sits within easy walking distance of the town's main attractions. This is a 15-room guesthouse with a restaurant, bar and lift, offering a straightforward, well-run stay rather than anything grand.

Rooms are comfortable and kept clean, with many looking out over the sea, and each comes with drinks and free WiFi. Breakfast is a highlight, with a full English on offer alongside options such as smoked kippers, and there's air conditioning, luggage storage and free on-site parking to make arrivals and stays easier. The property also has meeting rooms and space for weddings, so it caters beyond the typical overnight guest.

Staff and management are noted for being helpful and accommodating, adding to a sense of good value for the price. With Whitby Abbey and the town's other sights within walking distance, it works well as a comfortable, convenient stopping point for exploring the area on foot.

We had a lovely stay at this hotel. The location is excellent, just a short walk from both the beach and the centre of Whitby, making it ideal for exploring. The staff were friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. The room was spotlessly clean, the bed was incredibly comfortable, and we had a fantastic sea view. The breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice, and parking was easy, with a nearby car park costing just £3 for two days. The only downside was that our room was on the top floor, which meant climbing four flights of stairs as there is no lift. That said, everything else was so good that it didn't spoil our stay. Overall, we had a great experience and would happily stay here again.

Just returned from a weekend at the Gothic Gathering staying in The Riviera. The Guest house is cracking value for money, awesome breakfast and brilliant location! I had a singleroom which is compact, but had everything I needed and an amazing Seaview. I can honestly say the owners and staff go above and beyond. They are so friendly and welcoming. I unfortunately took unwell my first morning there and they were extremely helpful giving me information to get me to the local urgent care facility. Everyday after that they asked how I was. I'm a nurse by trade and can honestly say I felt well looked after, I'm very grateful! I highly recommend!!

We had a fabulous stay for my partner’s birthday treat. We have been before we had a four poster bed room with a sea view which was wonderful. The staff are super nothing is too much trouble. Zed & Emma are really friendly, Zed does the breakfasts which are delicious and a very flexible approach to your choices. Emma organised an afternoon tea for us which was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend.
