About The Pearl of Whitstable
The Pearl of Whitstable is a small guest house set back from the seafront, offering a handful of individually styled rooms rather than the standardised layout of a larger hotel. Its position in the town centre puts the harbour, high street shops and the town's restaurants all within a short, flat walk.
The scale of the property means a more personal style of service than at the larger seafront hotels, with breakfast typically served in a shared dining area rather than a full restaurant, suiting couples looking for a quieter, more intimate base.
Given its small number of rooms, availability can be limited at short notice over summer weekends, so booking ahead is advisable for anyone with fixed travel dates.

What guests say
I found this pearl shop in Whitstable through TikTok reels and was curious to visit. It was quite tricky to locate, as it’s a small shop tucked away, but once I stepped inside, it felt like I had entered a little “underwater world” — completely surrounded by pearls and shells. The whole vibe gave a very dreamy, mermaid-like feeling 😍 The shop interior is beautiful, and I even made a short reel showcasing it. They stock a variety of items such as mini books, small bags, pens, and pearl jewellery including chains, bracelets, and earrings. However, I found the prices to be quite expensive, so I didn’t end up purchasing anything. In terms of service, I can’t comment much on the staff experience as the person there seemed quite preoccupied on their phone and didn’t engage much. That said, it didn’t impact my visit too much as it seemed more of a browsing-focused shop where many visitors may just come to look around. Overall, a visually beautiful and unique shop worth visiting for the aesthetic experience, even if you’re just browsing.

Beautiful shop! Stopped in to shop while we were on vacation from the United States. Will definitely be purchasing more jewelry in the future. Very friendly and helpful!

Amazing little shop on Whitstable high street. Hannah was preparing to close for the day, but we were still warmly welcomed in to browse. That then turned into a purchase of a lovely pearl bracelet. The wife hasn't stopped wearing it yet since purchasing it or talking about it. The following week, we somehow realised that we had misplaced its box and a lovely pen which we got on the day from the shop. On speaking to Hannah, she and the team sorted a replacement of both items with a delivery to our address. Outstanding customer service, we'll be popping our heads in to to say hi the next time we are in Whitstable or picking out another piece from the collection..M and Melanie...

I had the most wonderful experience purchasing a beautiful pair of pearl earrings for my girlfriend. From the moment I walked in, I was warmly welcomed and looked after by Hannah and Tess. They were both so kind, attentive, and genuinely helpful in guiding me to find the perfect pair. Their friendly service made the whole experience feel special, and I left not only with stunning earrings but also with such a lovely memory. Thank you, Hannah and Tess, for making it such a joy—I’ll treasure both the earrings and the experience.
