About Fairfield House and Gardens

Windermere's lake and surrounding fells are within easy reach of Fairfield House and Gardens, making it a handy base for walking, cycling or simply exploring the town. Golf, fishing, horse riding and watersports can all be arranged nearby, and there are pubs and restaurants a short distance away for evenings out after a day on the water or the hills.

The B&B itself is adults only and has 8 rooms, each with an en-suite bathroom and a strong shower, along with complimentary fresh milk, bottled water and bottled drinks in the room. Mountain views stretch out from parts of the property, and the garden offers a quiet spot to sit away from the bustle of the town. Free WiFi and luggage storage are provided, and pets are welcome.

Breakfast is cooked fresh each morning and is one of the highlights of a stay, with homemade treats also offered as a nice extra touch. The staff are on hand to help with local recommendations, and free on-site parking makes it straightforward to arrive by car and leave it there while exploring on foot.

We stayed for two nights at Fairfield House in July and utterly enjoyed every moment of it. It was at the end of our walking holiday following the Dales Way and what a place to spend a couple of days in. Fairfield House was the best bed & breakfast by far of our two-week holiday in England. It offers hospitality, elegance, comfort, charm, style, generosity and more. It has a beautifully maintained and spacious garden where we could relax with a cup of tea and put our feet up after the long walking holiday. We liked the personal touches that Nick and his team have put in place to feel one welcome. (The chocolate brownies on arrival, the fresh raspberries from the garden for breakfast and so on.) I would highly recommend it to anybody and would definitely visit again if in the area.

Great 2 night stay with Nick. Warm welcome. Bottled water. fresh milk and brownies a lovely touch.Loved the bathroom, especially the shower. Bed very comfortable. Breakfast set us up for the day. Garden is beautiful, not quite warm enough to sit and enjoy it but would be lovely in the summer. Thanks Nick, would love to come back.

Rooms were lovely so clean and bed was very comfortable. The shower in the bathroom was lovely with plenty of hot water. The home made lemon shortbread left in room with tea making facilities were georgeous, along with the home made treats left for all to enjoy every day. The breakfast was cooked to perfection with plenty of choice. Nick the host was very friendly and helpful. All in all a wonderful base to enjoy your break in the lake district. What a gem.

Spent 3 nights here in March and had a great time. The Host, Nick, was friendly and accommodating, offering advice about places to go and things to do but generally keeping to himself unless you needed him which suited me well. The hotel itself is great as well. We stayed in the "Penthouse" room which is a very tidy and well maintained converted attic. The room itself does have low beams (To be expected with an attic conversion of course) which can be a painful reminder during the dead of night for a person around the 6ft mark but other than that the room was great with really spectacular views of the town and decent views of the lake, a good shower with solid water pressure and a full tea making set with plenty of decaf options to choose from if needed. Complimentary milk, bottled water and baked cakes such as malt bread and vanilla pound cake, are avaliable from a fridge on the first floor and replenished at least once a day. Nick also offers a complementary breakfast consisting of a few different options. Teas, Coffee, freshly squeezed orange juice are all available either by request or simply grabbing a cup yourself. As for food I personally stuck with the full English however I did branch out and had a Smoked Salmon with poached eggs one morning, both of which were fantastic. The only thing I would be wary of and would advice people about is accessibility. Fairfield house is located atop a very steep inclined road that is also narrow. While this of course isn't too much of a problem for car users, those with mobility issues that don't want to use a car each day to travel the very short distance from hotel to town may do well to pick somewhere that is not so high up or at the very least on a much shorter incline. Overall this is a fantastic hotel with a friendly and accommodating staff and I recommend to anyone who is visiting Windermere to book this hotel.
