About Plassey Holiday Park

This multi-award-winning family-run park near Wrexham has racked up an impressive trophy cabinet - including Best Park in Wales three times, conservation accolades, and even a gong for its own-brewed Dragon's Breath bitter. Set in the Dee Valley between Overton and Bangor-on-Dee (13 miles from Chester), Plassey occupies handsome Edwardian buildings housing a craft centre, the licensed Shippon restaurant serving local produce, and even a hair and beauty studio. Reviews consistently praise the spotless facilities, well-maintained pitches, and genuinely helpful staff.

Active types can fish for free on the on-site lake, play the nine-hole golf course (with clubhouse bar), swim in the heated indoor pool, or explore miles of footpaths before unwinding in the sauna. Kids love the superb play area. The centrally heated amenities include individual washrooms and parent-baby facilities. With its own shops, takeaway, and cream-tea garden overlooking the valley, you could happily settle in for a week without leaving - though some might find the sheer range of facilities means it lacks the quieter, wilder feel of smaller sites.

Me and my husband came for the first time tonight for a meal. We could not fault anything! The venue, grounds, service, atmosphere, vibe, food and drinks were being great! The bathrooms were exceptionally clean which is rare these days and smelt lovely! The service was great, nothing was too much trouble! The food was devine, I went for the steak and ale pie which is not a regular thing for me.. I can't remember the last time I actually ordered a pie, but the one I had was lovely, full of big chunks of meat, the gravy was beautiful and I'm not a gravy lover! Was a fab meal! My husband had the chicken pasta, the pasta and sauce was beautiful as was the chosen, moist and full of flavour, the portion size of the chicken.. could have fed us both! He said I'd was very good and ate it in about 5 seconds 😂 The restaurant also has aircon which was an added and very welcome bonus in this heat! From start to finish everything was amazing and we would not hesitate to come back, and 100% recommend to people who have not ye been! Thanks guys! 😊

Didn’t rate this campsite at all, if you want fun for your family this isn’t for you. unfortunately our car had broken down so had to use a commercial van. This campsite was not happy about this, whilst unloading the van to set up 5 times we got asked to move the van when half the stuff was already in there still whilst trying to setup with a toddler was rather annoying being kept reminded. Owner bombarded me as thought I was acting suspicious as I pulled the van over OUTSIDE the park to check for a chemist for my parter. Which I found rather unnerving as a lady on my own at 8 o’clock in the morning as I was being watched! England game was on and the staff constantly pulling up invading our privacy to “check on things” Restaurant staff not happy my daughter “was in the way” whilst clearing plates and we were waiting for a table what was supposed to be ready but wasn’t. Pool staff moaning about my daughter in the pool with her dad playing. This site isn’t fun, I go on holiday to have fun with my family this wasn’t fun it was awful. Won’t be returning, the site itself is lovely the staff and owners are the ones that let it down. When entering we were told by reception that they could see us on the cameras, I don’t no what they think we were going to. Felt very uneasy here and didn’t like it at all, there was a group of 15 of us which won’t be returning.

Ate in the lovely Barn restaurant, live locally and wanted to try it. The food and venue were outstanding, but the service was a little more holiday park than good customer service. The staff were really nice and polite, but just lack a little training in catering standards, such as check backs, wine service and customer focus, so they know what good means. Tips were included in the bill, but if the service was good I would have left extra. This also meant they missed opportunities for extra sales such as drinks, extra gravy with the huge pie and cocktails, so worth that little extra investment. As a local I will go again and support them, give them a chance, but it just took the shine off, so I wont rush to recommend it until things settle. Overall ... good: 7/10 Value £: 6/10 Food: 9/10 Service: 6/10 06/06/2026 meal for 3

Came with our caravan for a second visit and we will go back again. The whole site is very well maintained, the grounds are immaculate, the touring areas have plenty of space, with hedges to separate, we never felt overlooked. It is so well organised. There is a nice bar area overlooking the golf course & the swimming pool is amazing, very clean & there is an adult only session at 9am. The shower and toilet facilities are good too.All of this can't be achievable without the wonderful staff. From checking in at reception, to seeing them during our stay, they are always really helpful and smiling. Thankyou!
