James' Estate Caravan Park

James Caravan Park, Ruabon, Wrexham LL14 6DW, UK

Family-run caravan and touring park on the historic Wynnstay Estate, eight miles from Llangollen

About James' Estate Caravan Park

James' Estate Caravan Park sits within the mature parkland of the historic Wynnstay Estate at Ruabon, roughly eight miles from Llangollen and a short walk from the railway station—handy for anyone arriving without a car. The Roberts family have run the site since 2020 with a straightforward, welcoming approach, and the established woodland setting gives it a noticeably different feel to purpose-built touring parks, with quiet pitches spread across open grassland and beneath old estate trees.

The location works well for the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and Trevor Basin, both closer than Llangollen town itself, and Wrexham is equally accessible for shopping or onward travel. Facilities cover the essentials—showers, toilets, washing-up, chemical disposal—and the park welcomes rallies, Duke of Edinburgh groups, dogs, and motorcycles year-round across a good spread of grass and hardstanding pitches, including fully serviced options.

It's a solid, unfussy base if you want mature parkland surroundings and decent access to the Dee Valley without being right in the heart of the tourist honeypots. Some visitors note that facilities can feel a little tired in places, but the trade-off is space, quiet, and that genuine estate character.

Lovely campsite, reasonable price, fantastic showers powerful and hot. The only thing is the hairdryer in the bathroom was 20p to use and I probably would have spent a fiver to dry my barnet with how small it was. There is an outside sink to do your washing up but didn't see any other amenities. We stayed non-electric pitch and even though there is a main road nearby we couldn't hear it. We had originally booked a grass pitch but he gave us hard standing with no extra due to ground conditions. The couple running the place were very friendly and nice. Aldi, Costa Coffee and petrol station all in a walking distance away.

i Went here with my son for weekend of camping. Its in a nice area, easy to get to . Very secure big spacious site and staff are lovely and welcoming. Warm clean toilets and showers onsite and adding, petrol station right next door for any forgotten or last minute bits. Would definitely recommend and would come again 😃
