Jollydays Glamping

We had a lovely 3 nights stay at Jollydays and Dreamery, we had originally booked a woodcutter Lodge but Jim upgraded us on arrival to the magicians Bothy which was a very pleasant and fantastic suprise (thanks Jim!👋😃) If you love the peace, calm and very dark nights in woodland then this is a place for you. The wood burner heated the bothy very well and the facilities were plenty good enough for the duration of our stay in April. The Dreamery was available to explore after hours and it's obvious a lot of work has and is going in to making it a wonderland for kids and adults alike.

We came for a breakaway from life, what we got was a couple of thousand pounds of therapy. Peace, tranquility and grounding. Watching the wildlife whilst sitting on the veranda with a cup of tea is like nothing on earth.. Your left alone but help is just a phonecall away. As a woman that likes to cook, bring your own box of goodies, food, drink, tin foil, prep knife and leave your worries at home. Husband brought his own hand axe so bless him he's a very happy chappy with making sticks. Car and motorbike extremely safe. If you want all bells and whistles go a hotel. If you want/ need peace, mother nature and to unwind from the stress of the modern so called world, this is your place. No tv, very little Internet and no oven. It's heaven on earth. Time to reconnect with your loved one and get entertained with the wildlife in front of you..

Weekend here for my Sisters 60th birthday (just us 5 girls, aged between 62 and 2) perfect retreat, no TV, no cooking, no wifi, just beautiful peace and quiet and family time. Walking in the woods and doing the fairy and hobgoblin trail. Only downside is: I have sleep apnea and require a breathing machine at night and there is only one electricity power point so I had to sleep on the sofa.

The road to the site is a bit "holey" but the actual location is right in the middle of beautiful woodland so it's sort of to be expected, and not really a problem if you do a bit hole dodging (which, given the state of U.K. roads these days is normal practice). If you don't like the only noise being birdsong then this isn't for you; It's so peaceful. The bothies we stayed in were lovely, and calling it 'glamping' I think is doing it a dis-service. Ours had 2 bedrooms with lovely comfy proper beds, hot and cold running water, double glazed windows, bath and shower, toilet and basin, and a pretty well equipped small kitchen, and the only canvas in sight was on the woodland tent across the way. There's a lovely log burner that kept it warm enough all night (and this was in February). The pictures on the site don't do it justice - our covered verandah had a BBQ, 6-seater picnic table and 3 seater sofa with a blanket on it. I couldn't comment on the 'woodcutter huts' or the 'woodland tents' but I would highly recommend the bothies, even for people (like me) whose camping days are long gone.
