Banchory sits on Royal Deeside in Aberdeenshire, and the Deeside Way runs through the area—a route that draws walkers, cyclists and those after a gentler pace. Potarch Lodge occupies a prime spot here, a substantial house refurbished to accommodate up to 14 people across seven bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. Four bedrooms have double beds, three have pairs of singles. The whole place is yours alone, making it suitable for extended families or groups of friends rather than a shared property.

Ground floor holds the main living spaces: an open-plan kitchen, dining and sitting area with a woodburner, plus a separate sitting room with an open fire. The kitchen is equipped for proper cooking—electric range, microwave, American fridge freezer, breakfast area. Upstairs, the bedrooms are arranged for flexibility; most have baths with showers over, all have toilets. Outside, a large enclosed garden with patio, garden furniture and a BBQ provides space to gather. On-site fly fishing is a draw for those interested; there's a bike and rod store, car parking for five vehicles, and a drying room for wet weather kit. Wi-Fi, heating, electricity, bed linen and towels are included. Potarch Café is next door—useful for coffee and a menu built around local and estate produce. No smoking inside; one dog travels free.

We had a great stay at Potarch lodge. Very comfortable accommodation with nice facilities and lovely location with the river just beside, a nice green for kids to play and woodland walks. Great cafe next door. We enjoyed our welcome basket and the beds were lovely and comfortable! Two lounges was very handy for the adults to have some peace!

Had a fabulous weekend with all the family at the lovely Potarch Lodge which is in the perfect location for sightseeing, hillwalking & even bagging a few Munros! The accommodation is spotlessly clean. The open plan kitchen, dining & living area is extremely comfortable & superb for large family gatherings. The huge kitchen area is kitted out with everything we could possibly have needed & the appliances are all of high quality as you’d expect with this standard of property. We found the bedrooms to be comfortable & well laid out & having an ensuite with each one is an absolutely winner. The private, enclosed garden area is large & a perfect space to relax & chill out in with ample seating for all the guests & there’s even a large BBQ there should you be lucky enough to get the weather for it. The added bonus of the extra living room is a perfectly peaceful & calming space…something which may come in handy during a large family gathering! The only issue we encountered during our stay was with noises coming from the boiler system, this was reported & dealt with immediately by the owners/staff & they were extremely attentive & helpful & a pleasure to deal with. The Potarch Cafe next door to the lodge is amazing & should definitely be on your list of things to do if like us you like wonderful food in lovely surroundings. Very happy to say we would absolutely recommend Potarch Lodge & we are extremely hopeful of a return visit ourselves next year.

Great space for a large group. Kitchen is excellent. The house is immediately next to the River Dee and a relatively busy road, so one has to be careful when children and dogs head out to the front of the property. Lovely part of the world, with some incredible walking etc locally.

Excellent food and service, provides quality rather than quantity. Good quality ambience. Dogs welcome - goes with nearby woodland walks. EV charge points.
