Kinnaird Castle - Glen Apartment

Photo: Kinnaird Castle - private home with holiday accommodation

Glen Apartment is split across two floors within Kinnaird Castle, a few miles from Brechin. Downstairs holds a king bedroom; upstairs is an open-plan kitchen, dining and living space with a sofa bed, plus a substantial bathroom with bath and double shower. What sets this place apart is a separate utility room with washing machine, tumble dryer and microwave—genuinely useful if you're heading out to walk, fish or explore the surrounding countryside and need to dry clothes or boots between trips.

The apartment sleeps four and comes with essentials covered: Wi-Fi, heating, bed linen and towels are all provided. One car can park on site. One well-behaved pet stays free. The castle grounds include a spring-fed water supply and an unfenced lake, so those features matter if you're bringing children or a dog. Brechin itself is a small market town; the wider area suits people interested in fishing, golf, walking or simply a quiet break away from busier parts of Scotland. No smoking inside.

We had the most wonderful stay in the Glen Apartment at Kinnaird Castlr while attending a national sled dog race with my two children. I’ll admit, because it’s a castle I expected it might be a bit cold… but I couldn’t have been more wrong! From the moment you walk into the stairwell and head up the stairs, it’s beautifully warm and welcoming. The apartment itself is absolutely stunning – spotlessly clean, spacious, and very comfortable. It easily sleeps four with a lovely double bedroom and a sofa bed in the living room, which worked perfectly for us. The views from the windows are breathtaking and the castle grounds are just as beautiful. And for anyone with pets, it’s wonderfully dog-friendly – they really think of everything, even providing large sheets to cover furniture so your pets can be cozy without leaving hair behind. It truly couldn’t have been a more perfect place to stay. Five stars from us and we would definitely return!

Beautiful location and apartment. We had a lovely Christmas here. The rooms were very large and well appointed and we had excellent fun searching the grounds for the 7 follies. We will return again!

What a beautiful estate filled with really wonderful people. The castle itself was stunning. We stayed in the Lauderdale Apartment and it was very comfortable. I wish we could have stayed longer. Lovely walks, super peaceful and so beautiful. Everyone we interacted with was absolutely lovely. I hope to visit again.

I is great place for quiet walk. There are few herds of deer in the area to be seen. Lots of pheasant freely roaming around so dogs should be kept on closely monitoring all the time.
