Chandlers is a six-bedroom, six-bathroom house on the Isle of Bute that accommodates up to 16 guests as a whole property rental. Everything needed for a self-catering stay is provided—electricity, wifi, bed linen and towels are all included. The house sits on the coast with its own hot tub overlooking the water, and a large deck facing the shoreline.

Bedrooms are spread across the property, many with sea views and all with televisions. Beyond sleeping arrangements, the house is set up for substantial gatherings: a dining room seats 20, a snug with comfortable seating and a bar area provides space to relax, and for those interested, there is a music room with a grand piano, guitars and amplifiers. The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking. One well-behaved pet is welcome.

Bute itself offers varied terrain—rolling hills inland, heather moorland to the north, and sandy beaches around the edge. The island is popular with walkers and cyclists, with opportunities to spot feral goats, buzzards and roe deer; Scalpsie Bay is known for a large seal colony. Fishing is common in the inland lochs, with Loch Fad three miles away offering rainbow trout. The island has historical sites including standing stones, an Iron Age fort, and Mount Stuart, a Victorian Gothic mansion open to the public. No smoking inside the property.

We booked here 15 months in advance, fully paid up 6 months before our visit, and the owner by the name of Allison cancelled it 2 months before our trip was due under the reasoning of her family was having a wedding (which she also did not declare in her original email, otherwise stating ‘family cricumstances’). When offered alternatives, they were unsuitable and would not house all the guests who had paid £700 per family to stay, and when told this was not suitable, told us she would have to cancel but was trying to coerce the families into lying on cancellation forms so she wouldn’t lose out on our £1800 deposit money. I’m sure it looks beautiful, just a shame about who owns it.

This is a lovely hotel. We got a lovely welcome by the owner, so relaxed & made to feel right at home. The room was lovely & clean & I loved the set up for breakfast. Continental breakfast with lots to choose from & the option to buy hot food at a very reasonable price. We decided the toast, cereals & pastries were more than enough & the coffee was very good indeed. We couldn't dine there on the first night as the restaurant was closed, we were told they were having a night off, quite right! We dined in the restaurant on the second night & again the food & service were excellent! I'd definitely recommend this hidden gem!

Stayed for one night and would definitely stay again. Absolutely beautiful rooms, beautifully decorated, exceptionally clean and the full Scottish breakfast could not have been more perfect! Lovely, friendly and very welcoming. Thank you! 😃

Stayed for weekend with family for a 60th. Beautiful house in a beautiful location and value for money. Internally the cleaning of the accommodation could benefit from a little more attention to detail. No one really readily available to complain to. Besides this we had good weekend.
