Built in 1789, Garden Cottage is a detached stone property on Strachur Park, a 2,000-acre estate of woodland and pasture still owned by the family who built it. The cottage sits in its own enclosed garden, reached by a tree-lined farm track from Strachur village. Three bedrooms and two bathrooms accommodate up to five guests; downstairs has a ¾ double, while the two upstairs rooms each have zip-and-link super kingsize beds that can be separated into singles. The layout centres on a ground-floor living room with open fire, a kitchen/dining room with electric cooking and dishwasher, and a second sitting room without television.
Essentials like heating, Wi-Fi, bed linen and towels are provided, with initial fuel for the fire included. The garden has a lawned sitting area, furniture and barbecue. Beyond the fence lie woodland walks, nature trails with wild flowers and wildlife, a secluded lochan for picnics, and a small river. Strachur village—a short walk away—has a shop, post office and two pubs within a quarter mile. One dog is welcome at no extra cost but must be kept on a lead, as sheep graze the surrounding fields. There is a small pond in the garden and sloping terrain in the grounds. Parking for two cars on site; smoking is not permitted.
