Loudon
Argyll and Bute

The Cowal Peninsula's woodland and water define this corner of Argyll and Bute. Loudon sits within 180 hectares of heritage-status forest on the site of an ancient Highland village, metres from Loch Fyne's shore. Strachur and Inveraray are nearby; Glasgow is about an hour away via the A83. The setting draws red squirrels, deer, orchids and various birds. Behind the cottage, a hillside blooms with bluebells in spring, and a small burn feeds down to the loch.
The cottage sleeps four across two bedrooms—one with a double bed, one with two singles—and has a bathroom with bath and shower. Downstairs, a living room with an open fire and Freeview TV opens to a kitchen equipped for proper cooking: electric cooker, dishwasher, microwave and the rest. Bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi and the initial logs for the fire are included. Heating and electricity are covered. Outside, there is garden furniture in a front sitting area and parking for one car. The beach is about 200 yards away. No smoking is permitted. One dog travels free.

Lovely little place however needs a deep clean. Cobwebs in most corners but honestly it's worth the stay.

A great retreat in the forest. Peace and quiet and very relaxing. We have stayed many times and love it.
