McHugh
Argyll and Bute

On the Cowal Peninsula near Strachur, McHugh sits within 180 hectares of natural woodland by the shores of Loch Fyne. The setting is genuinely remote—ancient Highland village foundations, oak and birch forest, a burn running down to the water, and a hillside behind covered in bluebells each spring. Red squirrels are regular visitors here, part of a conservation area, and the woodland floor hosts orchids, mushrooms and deer. The beach is 200 yards away.
The cottage itself is ground and first floor. Downstairs: a living room with Freeview TV and an open fire (initial logs provided), plus a kitchen with electric cooker, dishwasher and microwave. Upstairs: one bedroom with a double bed, one with two singles, and a bathroom with bath and shower. Bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi and heating are included. There is parking for one car on site and a front garden with seating. One dog stays free.
This works for a couple or small family wanting genuine quiet, or two families taking both McHugh and its neighbouring cottage together. The A83 trunk road from Glasgow is six miles away. No smoking inside.
