Strone House

Argyll and Bute

View on Google Maps

Dunoon sits on a peninsula where the Clyde Estuary meets Loch Long, with Holy Loch to one side and the Argyll Forest rising behind. Strone House occupies one of the finest positions in this landscape, a Victorian mansion built for a shipping magnate and fully restored to blend period character with modern comfort. From the house you look across water toward the mountains of Loch Long, with views that extend to Loch Eck and beyond.

The property sleeps 18 across seven bedrooms and seven bathrooms, each bedroom with its own ensuite. Downstairs there are interconnected living and dining spaces with fireplaces, and a kitchen equipped for cooking at scale. Bed linen, towels, wifi and electricity are included. The gardens are substantial enough to accommodate a marquee, and the church at Strone stands just yards away. The house is entirely yours for the duration of your stay.

This location works for groups drawn to active holidays. Sailing, fishing, golf, mountain biking and horse riding all happen locally. The Benmore Botanic Gardens lie within reach, forest trails crisscross the hinterland, and Dunoon town centre with its restaurants and shops is half a mile away. The surrounding area holds ruined castles and monuments, while dolphins, otters, deer and golden eagles are regularly spotted. Non-smokers only.

A beautiful seaside residence with impressive views. The house has recently been renovated and redecorated to a very high standard. The downstairs common rooms are very comfortable and the bedrooms ranging over two floors upstairs are lovely, with sweeping sea views.

Strone House, in Glen Fruin, between Luss and Faslane, Garelochhead is nearest town, Helensburgh 9 miles away. A wonderful, very big house with delightful owners. Extremely clean. Everything you could want on hand. Hot tub, a sauna, even a barbeque shed! Cooking by Aga, fantastic. Beautiful gardens. If you're looking for a special place to spend time with friends or family, this could be it. Highly recommended, in my view.
