Strone Lodge is a two-bedroom apartment that underwent a complete overhaul in 2018. It sits on the first floor of a larger property, with picture windows across the water towards Loch Long and the Clyde Estuary. The building stands within the grounds of Stone House, positioned at the head of Strone Point where the Cowal Peninsula meets the national park and the Argyll Forest rises behind.
The layout comprises a living room with a 32-inch television and electric fire, a separate dining room with a conservatory extension, a kitchen fitted with electric cooking facilities and a microwave, two bedrooms each with a king-size bed, and a shower room. Essentials like electricity, heating, wi-fi, bed linen and towels are all provided. There is parking for three cars on site and a private lawned garden. One well-behaved dog is welcome. The property is non-smoking.
Dunoon itself lies within easy reach, offering shops and restaurants, while the wider area suits anyone interested in the outdoors. Benmore Botanic Gardens, forest trails for walking and cycling, sailing, fishing and golf are all available locally. Red squirrels, otters, deer and golden eagles inhabit the surrounding woodland and water. The Waverley paddle steamer runs excursions from Dunoon and Blairmore Pier during summer months. Inveraray, Oban and Loch Lomond are accessible for day trips.

We've been stayed multiple times in different lodge's here. They're safe quiet and cosy!. Sleep up to 6 with stunning woodland views. Only 10 mins from local town. For peace and quiet relaxing this is it!! If only once you can say, I've stayed in a wooden lodge, this is it!!!

We stayed at fox lodge. It was clean and warm. It was very close to Sandbank where we were visiting relatives. We loved our stay however the water pressure in the shower is not great and the hot water tap is difficult.

This is one of the best holidays I have been on in many years! I am a native of Scotland, although I now reside in Dorset and although Dorset is beautiful, I forgot how stunning the scenery is in the Argyll Forrest. The lodge is perfectly located for exploring the Lomand national park and the Argyll coast. It is also easy to reach Glasgow by way of Ferry and train. The lodge itself is wonderfully presented and has all the mod cons that you need while also giving you the authentic log cabin experience. I have booked to go for another week in mid winter, it will be different weather wise, but having lived in this part of the world for over 30 years, I am sure it will be 🙂
