The Moorland Barn
Argyll and Bute
Couples seeking seclusion will find The Moorland Barn on the Kintyre Peninsula, within a mile of the coast near Ellary Burn. This former power station has been converted into a one-bedroom property sleeping two, with the whole place to yourselves. The approach—a short walk from a lay-by, through a gate and down some steps—sets the tone for a genuinely private retreat.
Inside, a bright sitting room opens via French doors onto a deck overlooking the burn and gardens. The kitchen is equipped for cooking, there's a dining area, one double bedroom, and a bathroom with a walk-in shower. Electric heating runs throughout, and the essentials—electricity and bed linen—are covered. One dog is welcome.
The location suits anyone drawn to the water's edge: the nearby beach and harbour are natural starting points for the area's boating, canoeing and paddleboarding. The burn's gentle sound is part of the setting rather than something to escape from. Argyll and Bute is the nearest town for supplies.
