In Arundel, close to the castle and River Arun, The White Swan is a pub-hotel known for hearty carvery meals and free parking on-site.

About The White Swan

Arundel's mix of castle, riverside walks and compact town centre makes it a popular base in West Sussex, and The White Swan sits within easy reach of all three. This pub-hotel offers en-suite rooms with the straightforward comforts guests need, including drinks in the room and room service, plus free on-site parking for those arriving by car.

Food is a strong point here, with a restaurant and bar serving generous carvery meals and cooked breakfasts, alongside packed lunches for days out and kids' meals for younger guests. There's a garden and outdoor seating for warmer days, free WiFi throughout, and meeting rooms for those combining business with a stay. Service is generally friendly and attentive, though it can slow down at busier times.

Beyond the hotel, Arundel's castle, the River Arun and the town's shops and eateries are all within easy distance, and there's fishing and golf nearby for those wanting to fill a day outdoors. Pets are welcome, making it a practical choice for those travelling with dogs.

Just had a meal with 20+ of us to celebrate a wedding that the Hotel provided for us yesterday. The wedding was absolutely beautiful and the Hotel followed every step we wanted. The music ran smoothly, the ceremony ran smoothly and the bar service after the ceremony was brilliant. Josh, the manager, exceeded every expectation at the wedding and for food the next day. He made sure everything was exactly how we wanted and if we needed anything else. The staff were fast, efficient and very welcoming and friendly. The meal today was top tier also. We preordered our food before arrival and they had all food ready on time for all of us, with no mistakes at all. The food was delicious and very filling. Would highly recommend this Hotel for all you need.

Just had 3 fantastic meals at the white swan inn, a melt in the mouth slow braised beef shin, a Caesar salad with a pan fried salmon fillet and a lentil cottage pie, all went down a treat and served by the welcoming jack. All of the staff were very friendly and made us feel at home. We’ll be back tomorrow to work our way through the lovely selections on offer. Back again tonight and 2 of us went for the chicken, pancetta & Chardonnay pie whilst the other in our party opted for the battered haddock & chips. The pies arrived, crisp pastry crust which was deep filled with tender chicken and sauce served on a bed of spring onion mash and roasted veggies absolutely superb. The battered haddock came with a light crispy batter coating (not greasy in any way) and chunky chips, mushy peas and tartare sauce all of which was ably and politely served this time by Oscar. Another relaxing & tasty evening meal. Glad we found the white swan inn. Should mention they operate an allergy app which is easy to use but provides a layer of food security that many could take on board. Thanks again guys. Back for a third night usual great friendly welcome from jack and we each decided we wanted to try dishes that we individually hadn’t tried 1 went for the Caesar salad with grill chicken 2nd went for the slow cooked shin of beef and myself opted for the slow cooked belly of pork, the first 2selections again proved to be tasty and hit the spot unfortunately on this occasion the pork belly was found to be tough and difficult to cut into in parts and this was brought to the staff’s attention when they came round to check if all was ok which was apologised for and that it would be brought to the attention of the chef. When jack returned to clear he again apologised and ensured us it would be reflected on our bill which it was 50% discount off the pork. 1 not so great dish wouldn’t be enough for me not to recommend the white swan if you’re in the Arundel area.

Lovely stay at this hotel. Food excellent, all very good quality, and served fresh and hot. Breakfast was amazing. Service from all members of staff was very good and all been very friendly. Location great to walk into Arundel through the country side. Room's could do with a little updating, but all very clean and tidy. Would definitely return.

Did not stay in hotel, but went for a late afternoon Sunday lunch at 5.30pm on our way back from Portsmouth. Welcoming friendly staff, and pub and restaurant area very nice. Also nice outside seating areas at front and rear. Food was really lovely and large portions. My husband had the beef and I had the gammon. Both delicious and served with large yorkshire pud, roast potatoes, lovely roasted carrots and parsnips, red cabbage, mashed swede and cabbage. You could also have cauliflower cheese if wanted. The quality of the food was really good. So well cooked and presented. I would say one of the best Sunday lunches we have ever had. We'll done to everyone at the White Swan. We look forward to coming back.
