About The Portland
The Portland suits travellers who want a no-fuss stopover rather than a destination in itself - families driving up for a few days, wedding guests, or anyone using Ashington as a base for exploring Northumberland by car. Free on-site parking makes it an easy option for road trips, and 24 hour reception means arrival times don't need to be planned around the front desk.
Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms and drinks available in room, with family rooms and accessible rooms on offer for those who need them. The hotel has its own restaurant and bar, serves breakfast, and can provide kids' meals, while room service and laundry service cover the practical side of a longer stay. The property also functions as a wedding venue, with a bridal suite and meeting rooms for events.
Outside, there's an area for outdoor seating, and the surrounding area offers golf, fishing, and walking, along with nearby pubs, restaurants and entertainment. It's a functional choice for anyone who wants a comfortable place to sleep and eat between days out rather than a destination hotel in its own right.
