Very disappointing visit. 10 of us attended for my husbands birthday. Firstly, on website it advertised 2for1. When we arrived we were told they did not do it any longer. - Force Advertising. Not a good start. Then we put our orders in. Then it really went down hill. 2 pies - crusts were so hard knife would not cut crust. Meat dried up - Could not eat it. Lasagne it was so dried out, my knife battled to cut it. No moisture at all. - could not eat it. Curry. Arrived on a flat plate, very strange way to serve a curry! But our friend said it tasted funny and again very dry - could not eat it. Chicken with prawns - over cooked chicken arrived with no sauce therefore again dry and tasteless - could not eat it I could go on, but I think you got an idea. This was our 3rd visit, each time with large groups of people, previously food lovely. Therefore I can only assume different Chef. We were there on 11th February. Chef needs sacking. We were given 2 meals free, but it did not take away a spoilt evening. We will not be visiting again.

What a lovely local pub this was. Unfortunately I went there for a funeral, however the stuff were very friendly and made us feel very welcome. There was plenty stock of alcohol and particularly the gins. Few there was also a nice large function room at the back where you can have food. I peeped in through the kitchen door and it looked nice and clean and well managed

After visiting the local church for a Boudicea/Roman battlefield exhibition, itself excellent, is seemed appropriate to visit the 'local, for lunch. I had gammon, my friend indulged in lasagne.... both very nice as was the accompanying beer - locally brewed..... Will be tempted back when I'm next in the area...

We went here with a few friends. The room was warm, as it was very wet and cold outside. Plenty of choice on the menu. It was fish Tuesday, so I had large cod and chips. The fish was huge, and cooked to perfection. It tasted delicious, and I would thoroughly recommend this dish. The service was friendly and very efficient. Would definately recommend this pub.
