About The Wheatsheaf Inn

The Wheatsheaf Inn has the look and feel of a classic English pub-hotel, its traditional character giving Atherstone a comfortable and welcoming place to stay. Staff were very friendly and helpful here, and the room was clean and comfortable. Unfortunately, there were only net curtains on the window, which meant I woke up at sunrise (which was very early on a July morning). As it was the night before my wedding, the lack of sleep as a result of no curtains wasn't helpful. If not for that, it would be a 5 star review.

Visiting an old friend I stayed at the Wheatsheaf for a night. Because I booked by mobile internet I called to confirm. Lorraine called me back to reassure me that all was sorted and advised on the local car park arrangement. Upon arrival a friendly member of staff checked me in and showed me up to my room. The room was superb! Modern, great decor and without anything to disappoint. The rooms are at the back and are quiet. After my evening out, I had time in the bar for a lively evening with friendly staff and locals. Lorraine even added my car to the local parking app so I didn't need to get up early for a ticket.

Warm welcome after a 3½ hours long and cold motorcycle ride, nice brand new room and a good pint served. Unfortunately, the menu on the Google site was obsolete and the pub doesn't do food anymore. But with takeaways a-plenty within a 2 minute walk and the option to eat in the pub didn't make that a big issue for me. Even got some company for dinner and didn't have to dine alone 😉
