About The Atherstone Red Lion Hotel

Long Street runs through the heart of Atherstone, and it's here that The Atherstone Red Lion Hotel has settled into the town's daily rhythm, giving guests a base with plenty of Warwickshire countryside and attractions within easy reach. The building carries a genuine sense of history, and that old-fashioned character comes through in the public rooms and bar rather than feeling like a theme.

There are 30 rooms, each with an en-suite bathroom, air conditioning, and the usual comforts including free WiFi, room service and drinks in room. Family rooms and a bridal suite are available, though some rooms are on the small side and maintenance can be patchy, so it's worth setting expectations accordingly. The restaurant has built a reputation for straightforward, well-made food, with dishes like lasagne and steak pie singled out, and the staff are consistently described as friendly and helpful.

Beyond the restaurant and bar, facilities run to a gym, spa and sauna, a garden, meeting rooms and concierge and porter services, plus free on-site parking and packed lunches for days out. Pets are welcome, and a nearby golf course, pubs and restaurants give guests options right on the doorstep for evenings when they'd rather not go far.

The hotel was okay for a night's sleep. The staff was friendly and helpful. The beer was good, and the breakfast was included in the price, nothing special. The room looked clean, except for the carpet, which was showing its age. The worst thing I experienced was under the clean duvet, full of hair that shouldn't have been there... i will not show this pictures here.

I once stayed here 20 odd years ago. It was nice then and nice now. They do cheaper rooms at no.95 which are still nice. Atherstone itself has it's fair share of Focus ST Darren's so close your window.

Came in for a drink and food. The house burger is nice, but fries were over cooked. Lasagna was tasty but very rich. Garlic bread was fried? Why! Overall not bad, we've had worse. We have stayed here since. Not the greatest experience. First room the heating didn't work, it was cold. However they moved us to a 'better' room. The rooms are very basic. The bed was awful to sleep in. And not worth the money we paid. Sorry, not saying there again.

Great location, very tidy place staff were excellent on check in/out. Comfortable bed. 3rd visit in 2 years. If you don't like it you need to pay for 4/5 star hotels.
