About Western House Hotel

Western House Hotel sits on Craigie Road close to Craigie Park, within easy reach of both Ayr town centre and the Craigie Gardens area. Rooms are split across the Ascot Suite, Main House and Courtyard categories, giving a choice between the character of the original house and more contemporary courtyard-facing rooms.

The hotel's restaurant, under executive chef Iain Conway, has built a reputation for its Sunday carvery and afternoon tea, both drawing custom well beyond hotel guests, and dining focuses on locally sourced Ayrshire ingredients.

Western House is also a well-established wedding and events venue, with multiple function spaces, so it suits both a straightforward overnight stay in Ayr and a base for a family celebration.

Last minute overnight stay to be closer to the ferry. Our friends who also stayed share our view. An exceptional quality hotel. Great location and wonderful entrance into the foyer and reception area. Cannot fault staff, accommodation and food. Evening meal and breakfast were superb. We’d just travelled from a so called 4 star in Fort William. The differences in standard were huge. The staff should be very proud of how they represent this wonderful hotel. Hopefully get back at some point for a longer stay.

Very good hotel with amazing staff. I want to thank Gordon at reception who is excellent at explaining everything in detail. After checking in, he showed me around, helped me to charge my car & even walked up to the other building where my room was located at 11pm in the night. The room was nice and clean with bath robes, towels, tea coffee etc. The breakfast was good and the meeting room was nice too. The staff even provided me lunch as per my diet requirements at very short notice. I will definitely stay here again.

Warm welcome from friendly and professional staff who enjoyed laughing....always good! Rooms well appointed, however other guests smoking by the fire door left a pervading odour through the rooms. Perhaps this could be discouraged. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious. Double bed was 2 singles with the ubiquitous gulley... Not ideal, but otherwise comfortable.

I stayed over the weekend (Sat 11 - Sun 12 July) to attend a family wedding nearby. The 'main' house of the hotel is lovely. Staff are friendly and welcoming. The grounds and gardens are very well kept. When I got to my room it smelled so badly of smoke. I complained and they sent someone from 'housekeeping'. This person wasn't, they were clearly from the maintenance team. They said they couldn't smell anything. I had 2 other people from my party come to the room and they both said the smell was terrible. General cleanliness of my room was bad. Huge stain on the carpet outside the bathroom and one of the pillowcases was stained. Bed was extremely lumpy and uncomfortable. Noise from other guests, the carpark, the nearby road and seagulls made for a terrible nights sleep. WiFi is also very weak. The breakfast, however, was good. Very well laid out and lots of choice. Overall, I was extremely disappointed with this hotel. Given the cost, even for just one night, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
