The Old Barn

Families and groups of up to seven will find The Old Barn works well for a shared getaway. The converted barn sits in Brett Valley countryside, with grounds that include an unfenced lake 250 yards away. Four bedrooms across two floors give flexibility—a double with ensuite on the first floor, a kingsize, two singles, and a further single with shared bathroom access. Three bathrooms and three living spaces mean everyone needn't be in the same room. The ground floor has a woodburner, dining room opening to a courtyard, and a kitchen equipped for real cooking, with a separate toilet and washer-dryer too.

The heated outdoor swimming pool (9m by 3m, 0.9m to 1.9m deep) is shared with other properties on the grounds and operates mid-May to mid-September. Parking for four cars comes with the property. Wi-Fi, electricity, bed linen and towels are included, along with initial fuel for the woodburner. A travel cot is available on request. The setting suits people wanting to explore Suffolk or simply stay put—rolling fields, grazing paddocks and views across the lake make for quiet surroundings. No smoking is permitted.
