What diners say
Popped by on a whim and practically had the place to myself on a Tuesday morning. Ordered breakfast and everything was delicious. Only tiny let‑down: my Milo arrived without the whipped cream or Tim Tam it was meant to have — but hey, that’s a few calories saved, right? 😅 By the way the Mont Blanc is highly recommended! Coffee and orange? A perfect pair!

brickwood coffee & bread . The place was quite packed with people with laptops & also calls , which is ok but your in a public space & can be quite annoying. But give that . We got shown to a table . &got menus and this time decided to scan the QR code & order & pay at the same time , [was a bit slow could be me ,phone &connection] but ordered , the food seemed to arrive quite fast , was tasty, well presented , there are vegetarian options available, overall rate as a 5star

I used to love Brickwood, but it’s got a lot worse (probably since it’s got more popular). We went in on a Sunday afternoon, probably about 1pm and were squeezed onto a tiny tiny table that was absolutely crammed next to two others at the back of the place. Don’t get me wrong, the food is decent, but the vibe is uncomfortable and not a nice experience. The whole place needs a lick of paint as it’s grubby, the acoustics in the back are horrendous and so loud. They’ve tried to cram too many tables into that back part and as such it feels cramped & overwhelming. I appreciate it’s busy, but we waited for a good 15 minutes for a food & drink order and then another good 35 minutes for food and had to ask multiple times - I think three - for water. The staff were pleasant but frantic. When my food arrived, the presentation looked careless & disappointing (photographed) and the portion size was disappointingly small. Just looked so randomly & carelessly bunged together, but charging decent whack for it. There were multiple dogs (I get it’s dog friendly so it’s to be expected) but dogs on seats/benches (dogs should be on the floor) and sniffing around tables in close proximity isn’t a vibe. Also, the toilet is grim and not cleaned regularly. Prices are fine for the area, but this place isn’t what it used to be - always tough to pay the 12.5% service charge (nobody ever feels comfortable to take it off) after a less than ideal situation. My advice is to take the hit and remove one or two tables at the back & give the back a bit of a refresh. Maybe get some noise absorbing wall covering as it was honestly ear bleed levels. You won’t see a drop in revenue as people will always want tables as you’ve got a decent reputation. Fix the simple things. I’ll be avoiding the place and going somewhere a bit quieter, less frantic and where more care is put in, even on busy occasions!

EDIT: Came back for a another visit and really glad I did. Both the food and service were fantastic. The coffee was excellent and arrived very quickly and the food was just as lovely. I had the French eggs which were really rich but so delicious. The smashed avo was 10/10 too. The service was really warm, friendly and speedy. Have adjusted my rating and will definitely be back again. Was made to wait 20 mins for a takeaway coffee, charged a 12.5% service fee and coffee tasted like hot milk. Genuinely think they forgot to the put coffee in. Used to love Brickwood but won’t be paying almost £9 for bad service and two bad coffees again.
