La Chingada Bermondsey

We visited La Chingada after hearing great things about its authentic Mexican food, so we arrived with high expectations. Unfortunately, both the food and the service left us very disappointed. The food lacked the bold flavours and seasoning we were expecting. We started with the dorados, which were very plain and needed considerably more seasoning. The chicken tinga tostada was better, but still lacked depth and the smoky flavour you'd typically expect from this style of Mexican cooking. Overall, the dishes felt under-seasoned and failed to deliver the vibrant flavours we were hoping for. The biggest disappointment, however, was the service. Three of our tacos (chorizo, prawn, and vegan) were mistakenly delivered to the table next to us, who unknowingly accepted them. Even after serving that table a second round of food, the mistake still wasn't noticed. Meanwhile, we waited over 10 additional minutes wondering where our order was, with nobody checking on us. When we eventually asked for the bill, we were told our tacos had already been prepared. What made the situation worse was that the manager never came over to apologise or acknowledge the mistake. Instead, he checked on the table that had mistakenly received our food while completely overlooking us. Although our waiter did apologise, there seemed to be no clear system for ensuring dishes reached the correct table, and the overall handling of the situation was poor. To add to the disappointment, the service charge remained on the bill despite the experience. Mistakes happen in restaurants, but it's how they're handled that matters. Unfortunately, the lack of ownership, communication, and customer care overshadowed the meal entirely. Sadly, this experience didn't reflect the excellent reviews we had read beforehand, and we wouldn't return based on our visit.

You've made an excellent choice if you're dining here. Super warm hospitality and a focused menu that's delicious. Even though it's relaxed inside, the service is efficient and theres lots of options for vegetarians and vegans. 10/10

As an LA native who has lived in London for a decade, my search for legit Mexican food over here has been pretty bleak… until now. Hands down, this is the BEST Mexican food I’ve had in London. They actually use real corn tortillas that hold up and don’t instantly fall apart on the first bite (a miracle!). And the nachos? Smothered in actual, proper nacho cheese, not just melted cheddar. I am so relieved I finally found my spot. Already plotting my return trip to try the enchiladas next. 10/10, highly recommend! 🌮🔥

This is the best and most authentic Mexican restaurant I have ever had in London. I ordered Baja Prawn Taco, Pork Carnitas, and Empanada de Chicharon, all were very delicious! My wife and I visited this restaurant on Sunday, and they have Mexican music performance every Sunday, it is very welcoming and worth visiting. All the staffs and the music performer were very friendly and helpful. Would absolutely come back here and highly recommend to anyone looking for authentic Mexican food to go here
