About Hotel 33
Step inside Hotel 33 and the rooms are bright and straightforward, each with its own en-suite bathroom and drinks available to order. It's a compact townhouse hotel with just ten rooms, so the feel throughout is more personal guesthouse than sprawling hotel, with luggage storage and 24 hour reception on hand for whenever guests arrive or need to head out.
A free continental breakfast is included each morning, and downstairs there's a bar with video games for anyone wanting a low-key evening in rather than out on the town. Outside, guests can make use of the garden and outdoor seating, a pleasant enough spot given Blackpool's seafront setting.
The location on Palatine Road puts Blackpool Tower within easy reach, and Blackpool North station is about a mile away for onward travel. The surrounding area covers plenty of ground for those who want it, from golf and fishing to cycling and walking routes, plus nearby pubs, restaurants and entertainment for evenings out.
What guests say
I’ve stayed in some questionable places, but this hotel managed to redefine what “premium disappointment” looks like. Let’s start with the price. For what I paid, I half expected at least the basics. Breakfast? Not included. Apparently nourishment is a luxury add-on. Good to know. Getting to the room required scaling what felt like six separate staircases. By the time I reached the top floor I was considering leaving a will in reception. There’s no lift, of course—why ruin the mountaineering theme? The room itself looked like it had lost a long battle with hygiene. The sheets had blood stains, the bed was covered in marks that raised far too many questions, and the general level of cleanliness suggested that a mop has not been sighted in recent history. Then there was the shower. Because the room is in the loft, the water pressure gave up almost immediately. Nothing says “refreshing” like a reluctant trickle that quits halfway through. And the temperature—astonishing. No heating whatsoever, despite it being –2°C outside. I genuinely expected snow to start forming on the bedside table. The only things missing were polar bears and penguins to complete the Arctic expedition vibe. All in all, an expensive, exhausting, freezing, and deeply unpleasant stay. Unless you enjoy hypothermia, mystery stains, and daily cardio, I’d suggest looking elsewhere.

Stayed here recently for 2 nights with my partner. Booked the room with Stan directly and paid cash on arrival. We were able to check in early at no extra cost which was very appreciated. Marc, the manager was superb, nothing was too much trouble. We stayed in room 3 which was very nice, super clean and had everything we needed. My main issue is that the windows, which face onto a main road do not keep sound out. You can hear people talking as they walk by. I'd suggest replacing the windows or installing some additional glazing to help keep sound out. There was a mini fridge, safe, iron, ironing board and fast WiFi. Location is brilliant, close to everything and very easy to get to. I would stay here again, with no hesitation.

We stayed in a suite on the top floor. There was a small room with a double and a larger room with a double and single bed, a small fridge and a wardrobe. The beds were confortable and the room was clean. The shower was hot and large and there were plenty of toiletries provided. The only issue was that sometimes you'd turn on the taps in the sink and there'd be no water. This only last 30s at most (maybe a pressure issue with us being on the top floor and someone else was using their taps?) so it was not terrible but a little annoying when needing to wash your hands or brush your teeth. Location was excellent. The train station and cheap weekend parking is just a couple of minutes walk, as are all the gay bars and venues, but it was still very quiet at night. It took 5 minutes to walk to the high street and 10 to the indoor shopping centre and Blackpool tower. And two nights for £200 for a room that sleeps 5 (although there was only 3 of us) was a bargain. There's only 1 key though so it could be a pain if sharing with friends and you were all doing your own thing and needed to coordinate when the keyholder would be back. We would happily stay here again.
