Initial paying for the car park is a pain on the backside. The app is called paybyphone. Install and register before you arrive or simpler is to bring coins. All day parking is £7.20 (May 26). Heights of Abraham give discount to blue light cards, MOD personnel, including the Veterans. But make sure to bring your card to present at the kiosk. All of the staff we met were happy to be there and helpful. We did not go into the caves (used the dog as an excuse). We took our own picnic after being told that the food up there was pricey. It's a short but beautiful ride. Clean toilets at top and a portable loo at the bottom. Would recommend.

Really fantastic attraction and good value for money! Considering the £23 includes your cable car, 2 guided tours of the caves and many lovely things to see around the grounds we easily spent nearly 5 hours there. The highlight for me was thecable car ride, and the victorian cave tour. Our guide Rose was fantastic and in character the whole time. Be aware the hills are extremely steep down to some parts and to get to the entrance at the bottom. Also get there in the morning as parking was full by the time we left. Cafe also was reasonable value and stunning views off the side.

Popular visitor attraction famous for its cable cars, situated high above the traditional resort town of Matlock Bath. There's plenty to do here, from cave tours with light shows that tell the story of how the caverns were formed, to a lookout tower with panoramic views, and a well stocked café and restaurant. The cable car ride itself is unique in England and gives a flavour of the alps in miniature. It's an all inclusive attraction, with everything included in the ticket price, and the site is maintained to a high standard throughout, with good signage, a fairly tasteful design and clean facilities. At the time of our visit, adult tickets were £28, representing reasonable value when considering the amount to see and do. Highlights include Great Rutland Cavern, a former mine which you're shown around by a "Victorian" guide (ours had a great sense of humour and made the tour engaging), The Great Masson Cavern with the immersive light show, and the Victoria Prospect Tower. From the top of this 19th century viewpoint you can see Matlock Bath, Matlock, and Riber Castle, amongst other landmarks. There are plenty of family friendly activities and a large gift shop where you can find locally themed keepsakes to take home. The only downside was parking, the nearest being in a public parking lot with payment by app. It was busy even relatively early in the day, so arrive around opening time to find a space easily. On the whole I prefer the more unspoilt natural landscapes to managed tourist attractions, so I wasn't sure what I'd make of this going in For what it is, an accessible family friendly way to learn about the Peak District, it seems a very professionally run site, and far more appealing, educational and relevant to its surroundings than the tourist development at Lands End.

We had a fantastic day at the Heights of Abraham with my wife and our two boys, aged 7 and 10. From the moment we arrived, all the staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable, and they were always happy to answer any questions. The whole site was spotless and very well looked after, with plenty to see and do for all ages. The guided cave tours were a real highlight. Interesting, informative and great fun for both the children and adults. The play area was also brilliant and our boys absolutely loved it. One tip for anyone visiting: take an extra layer if you're planning to explore the caves. We were told they stay at around 5°C, so it can feel quite chilly even on a warm day.
