Alum Chine – Apartment 4 is a two-bedroom apartment on the first floor of a residential building in Westbourne, the quieter neighbour to Bournemouth. The coast lies less than a mile away, and the stretch of sand at Sandbanks is reachable on foot along the seafront. Everything you need for a self-catering break is here: a fully equipped kitchen with oven, hob, microwave and dishwasher; a combined living and dining space with a 32-inch TV; two bedrooms (one with a queen bed and ensuite, one with a three-quarter double); and a bathroom. Wifi, heating, electricity, bed linen and towels are all included. There's a washing machine and tumble dryer in the shared utility room if you need them.

Westbourne's high street has independent shops, cafés and restaurants within easy reach of the apartment. Bournemouth's town centre is a walk or a short bus ride away, offering its pier and arcade, the Oceanarium, gardens and shopping. The leisure complex BH2 has a cinema, virtual reality, crazy golf and chain restaurants. Sandbanks, famous for its golden sand and views, is nearby, and Brownsea Island – a National Trust property where red squirrels live – is accessible by ferry from nearby. The broader Dorset coast, including Durdle Door on the Jurassic Coast, makes for striking day trips by car. No smoking is permitted in the apartment, and one pet is welcome.
