About Fairmount Hotel
The Fairmount Hotel is a modest, straightforward building on Priory Road in Bournemouth, the kind of place that favours substance over show. It's not a grand or historic pile, but a practical base for those wanting somewhere comfortable and central without extra fuss.
Rooms are understated but come with en-suite bathrooms and drinks available in the room, and family rooms are on offer for those travelling with children. Free WiFi runs throughout, and the 24 hour reception means arrivals and queries are never a problem. Luggage storage is available for early check-ins or late departures, and the on-site bar gives guests somewhere to unwind without leaving the building.
Beyond the hotel, the area offers plenty to fill a stay, with walking and cycling routes nearby, watersports and fishing for the more active, and a golf course within reach. Pubs, restaurants and other eateries sit close by too, along with local entertainment options, making Fairmount Hotel a sensible spot for exploring Bournemouth and its coast at an easy pace.

What guests say
After travelling with a group of 10 people we arrived to a sign on the door saying the hotel was closed. As we had seen previous reviews a month ago saying it was closed we called to check a week earlier and we were assured it was open but clearly not. No email or call leaving us high and dry with nowhere to stay and all other places fully booked. Booking.com were terrible, no refund, no alternative arrangements made for us and then we had to pay another £1000 for an apartment at last minute to save us from sleeping on the street! AVOID this establishment at all costs ! Totally unacceptable.

Planned a nice bank holiday weekend in Bournemouth. After a 5-hour journey and a 32-minute uphill walk from the station with luggage, I arrived at Fairmount Hotel… only to find it completely CLOSED. No email, no call, nothing. Just an A4 sheet on the door saying the hotel was closed due to a "piping issue." No prior notice, despite already having paid. I spent 1.5 hours on the phone with Booking.com (who were great, by the way, and covered the difference for another hotel). While I waited outside, 4–5 more guests showed up, equally confused and frustrated. What if someone had arrived at midnight? Should they just stand outside in the dark and cold for hours? I usually support small, independent hotels, but this level of disregard for paying customers is unacceptable. If you're still considering booking here, call the day before and the morning of your stay to check they're actually open. The outside looked okay, and there’s a small outdoor area with benches, where I ended up waiting, while Booking was sorting it out. EDIT: It's 2.5 months later and I still haven't received the refund! They should really be ashamed. I can also see that they are now taking new bookings from February 2026... seriously??

I had a very upsetting experience at this hotel. First, they charged £50 from my account and promised a refund within four working days. It has now been over ten days, and I still haven’t received anything. I’ve tried to contact them multiple times, but they are now ignoring my calls completely. On top of that, the behavior of the owner was absolutely unacceptable. She spoke to us very rudely and with no professionalism. We visited as a group of eight friends, expecting a good stay after paying in full — but instead, we were treated with disrespect and left feeling uncomfortable and upset. I would strongly advise others to be cautious when booking this place. Poor service, unfulfilled refund promises, and terrible customer treatment made this a very disappointing experience.

Dont recommended!! We stayed for 1 night and really glad it was just 1 night, hotel is cheap don't get me wrong but you can see why. Won't be going back, stains on the sheet, beds were very uncomfy, room wasn't cleaned thoroughly. We found an empty drinks bottle under the bed. Car park is dodgy, my friend got his car broken into and things got stolen when we spoke to hotel manager the only cctv they had for the car park was blocked by another car. So many nicer hotels in Bournemouth, pay the extra and find somewhere else.
