Traditional en-suite rooms with free breakfast at the Glendevon Hotel, a 36-room West Hill Road property near Bournemouth's coastline.

About Glendevon Hotel

Walk into a room at the Glendevon Hotel and you'll find a straightforward, traditional setup, comfortable rather than stylish, with the basics covered and free WiFi throughout. Breakfast is included, and with 36 rooms across the property there's a lift for easier access to upper floors, along with luggage storage and laundry service for those on longer stays.

Downstairs, the hotel has its own restaurant and a bar that runs live entertainment on certain evenings, giving guests a reason to stay on site rather than head out after dinner. Free on-site parking is available, useful given the West Hill Road location, and concierge and business services are on hand for anyone needing extra help during their stay.

The hotel sits within reach of Bournemouth's coastline and Dorset's wider attractions, with pubs, bars and other restaurants nearby for those who fancy exploring beyond the hotel grounds. It's a functional base for a seaside trip, with the caveat that guest opinion on the property has been mixed, so it suits travellers after simple comfort over polish.

It a very quiet hotel but this was in the covid-19 times. It seems to be a good cheap hotel. Not bad for the price though it seems to have a bar on it. I like to come back then it all opens up to see it my opinion has changed. It is a £50 deposit too. I never met any staff at the time I was here. The bed mattress was soft but the bed frame was felling apart. The shower after one used it still doesn't stop running out. I did try to get hold of someone but it seems like they only here to to check you out or check you in.

A group of 14 of us booked this hotel for a single night and choose this location as we had an early start the following morning to New Forest. What can I say, this has to be the worst place I've ever stayed. Firstly the receptionist managed to mess up our bookings for our party and we spent over an hour trying to get the rooms we wanted due to overbooking, and furthermore some of us were given keys to preoccupied rooms - very embarrassing. When we eventually got to our room there were beer cans outside the room, the furniture and decor inside was something from the 1980s, and I did not want to touch anything. The mattress had seen better days and I was genuinely scared to sleep in the bed. Worse was the horrendous smell from the bathroom, which was likely due to all the hotel room toilets pipes running through our bathroom, it made it difficult to use the bathroom let alone sleep. There was a TV and kettle with no electrical socket nearby and the only socket available in the room was 10 feet high up on the wall. Furthermore one of our parties got bitten by bed bugs. We were glad to leave the following morning. We should have taken our chances and chosen Salisbury and despite the Novichok incident.

One of the worst hotels I have ever had the displeasure of staying in, people drinking outside, music blaring from the moment we arrived at 2pm till 11pm, room was dirty, with stains all over the bed, we booked a double room with a double bed, but they had pushed two single beds together that weren’t even the same height and covered them with a sheet! Cigarette and iron burns in the carpet! Plug hole in the shower was blocked so flooded the room! Spoke the staff about my disappointment and was told that it was my up to me to report any problems but I explained that I’m willing to accept that it’s a budget room and expected basic facilities but I expect what’s there to work and a certain level of cleanliness and professionalism from the staff but wasn’t the case, they’re rude and inconsiderate.... do not stop here!!!!

Friendly helpful staff, decent breakfast although dinning room to small and can be hectic trying to get food, comfortable beds clean rooms and bedding. But rooms in desperate need of refurbishment, shower held together with a sticky substance and couldn't adjust. One need was held together with screws that stuck out. But if you want a good sleep and nice food with friendly staff you can't go wrong. Would come again good price with breakfast for this time of year.
