Hermitage Hotel

I stayed at the Hermitage Hotel for my recent trip to Bournemouth and overall, it was a pleasant stay. The hotel is situated pretty much on the doorstep of the beach and a beautiful garden that leads to the city centre so this is a big plus! We were allocated a relatively big room which was very much appreciated as I travelled with my husband, baby son and dog so it was nice that everyone was able to feel comfortable. For the most part, the staff were friendly (apart from I felt that the gentleman who checked us in could've smiled more upon our arrival and been more friendly throughout our check-in process). The bar staff were also happy to heat up our son's food for us several times a day so that was a great relief. The only two things that I'd have a mini moan about is the lift! There is only one lift that holds up to 4 adults so very incovenient given the amount of guests that stay at the hotel! The other thing is that we booked a king OR twin bed room. It states on their website that you should get in touch with them after booking to confirm which bed you'd like. I emailed them asking for a king bed rather than a twin bed as our son was sleeping with us and we didn't want him wedged inbetween the gap between two single beds and I received a response confirming that we'd been allocated a King size bed but upon arrival, we found it was 2 twin size beds put together. Although it wasn't an issue in the end, I wasn't too pleased that they didn't follow through with what was promised. They did provide an additional single bed to be fair but there was no way our baby son was going to sleep in that as he would've rolled off! All in all, still a pleasant stay.

The hermitage hotel experience has been above our expectations, the staff are all so friendly and happy to help accommodate where possible, we was given a ground floor room during the lift closure to help with our toddler and baby as going up stairs was challenging so we appreciated the support to be on ground floor. Electric car charging available on site. The breakfast was 10/10, fresh, sausages are meaty fresh and delicious, delicious omelette cooked to order, everything is topped up frequently and if I needed something topping up, the staff were quick to top up and there wasn’t any delays getting our cooked food. nice selection of yogurts , fruit and pastries, it does the job to be fair what more could one ask for. Location is perfect and easy walk to the sea front beach. Nice bar and outside area for drinks, nice refreshing ciders. Nice traditional hotel takes me back to my seaside trips as a child. Couldn’t have asked for more, great experience.

Wonderful, friendly, helpful staff. We booked a room with a seaview which was stunning. The weather was great. Our room was spacious and it had air con. The shower was over the bath but far too hot on minimum. The reception toilets definitely need an update. Slightly faded grandeur would be how I describe it. Parking charges for quite an expense hotel was a great disappointment. The breakfast was poor. This is a 4 star hotel and the cold selection was poor just boxes of cereals, no homemade muesli or added bowls of raisins, nuts, berries etc. The biggest disappointment though was the cooked breakfast which was buffet style, hard fried eggs, scrambled egg in hard lumps, uninviting bacon and sausages all being kept warm. I really wanted a Eggs Benedict, but for this they wanted £9.50 extra! In summary, wonderful helpful staff with a special mention to the lady on reception, who may be from South America? Who was amazing and the lady serving behind the bar. Slightly tired hotel in places, parking charges for guests staying is poor and breakfast very poor, we've had far better breakfasts at cheap Premier-style hotels.

We stayed here as part of a Murder Mystery weekend. The whole package was included. The hotel's location is great as its right near the beach and town centre. Though the hotel was very busy we did not have to wait for anything. The room itself was nicely furnished. It was a good size, the beds comfortable and linen of a good quality. The bathroom was a bit tired but had an amazing shower. The food was of good quality and we throughly enjoyed it. The staff were also very good and attentive. I would happily stay here again. My only issue was that we had paid for a cream tea as part of our deal. We had been told to turn up at 3pm. We were given the cheaper version which though nice was in fact cheaper than we had already paid. We paid our company £30 for this but it was only £10 a head. The luxury version would have been £36 but we were not able to upgrade even by paying a premium of £6 and it did look amazing. The daytime meals were reasonably priced and there was a good range of food.
