About Ocean Beach Hotel & Spa

Ocean Beach Hotel & Spa is one of the larger hotels on Bournemouth's East Cliff, a modern, beach-themed property with 131 rooms set above the sea a short walk from the pier and town centre. Part of the Oceana Collection, it is built around a full leisure offer rather than a purely boutique or period stay, aimed at families and groups as much as couples.

Rooms are decorated in a contemporary, rustic-beach style, with sea-view options on the higher and front-facing floors looking out over Poole Bay. The hotel's wellness facilities include both indoor and outdoor pools, a sauna, treatment rooms and a sunbathing terrace, giving guests plenty to do without leaving the building on a changeable day.

Food and drink options include a main restaurant and an on-site Italian cafe, along with a bar overlooking the sea, and the hotel regularly hosts events and functions alongside its leisure guests. Its scale means it can accommodate larger family groups and group bookings more easily than the smaller boutique hotels nearby.

It suits families and groups who want a seafront base with pools and spa facilities included, a short walk from the pier, Oceanarium and Lower Gardens, and who prioritise on-site leisure facilities over a strictly boutique atmosphere.

Have seen a few bad reviews so was prepared to be disappointed, however now I'm here all I can think is those reports were malicious. I'm here on a spa weekend with a friend. We have a beautiful room with a lovely sea view, I'm guessing it's one of the refurbished ones. Nice clean modern bathroom with shower. Tastefully furnished room with comfortable beds. Staff are multinational. All very pleasant, friendly and professional. Had our spa treatment this morning and was amazed with the beautiful venue on the lower ground floor. Large and light, spacious area, great attention has been given to the decor and facilities. Charlotte gave me the best facial I've ever had. I felt very relaxed and pampered and my skin felt amazing. Cannot recommend the spa weekend enough. Complintary tea and cake on arrival a nice three course evening dinner, breakfast was well cooked and good quality ingredients, sausages particularly. Fresh baked mini croissants, good quality coffee, fresh fruit salad etc etc. absolutely nothing to complain about and as good a breakfast as I've ever had anywhere, including some expensive hotels. Pool area is nice, although not huge the pool is quite sufficient. This is a good value for money short break and I will definitely return!

We stayed for my husband's birthday on a Monday and Tuesday and as soon as we arrived we were checked in and the receptionist gave us an upgraded room with a better sea view, so that was a plus. When we arrived at the room, it was clean and cared for, but we noticed the top window was smashed on the outer double glazing which we reported to reception. The beds were incredibly firm, so if your not a firm bed sleeper it's going to be uncomfortable for you. We did get a lot of disturbance for both nights when sleeping, lots of arguing, doors banging and we even noticed some people got escorted off the premisis. The outside pool is pleasant but we did not use it. Looked clean and we did see a couple using it. We had dinner for one night there and was pleasantly surprised.the food was great, we both were happy with that. The breakfast we had for both mornings was fantastic as well. Overall it's an okay hotel, we didn't get much sleep, so that was the worst part, and the hotel could do with a bit of upgrading.

Staff were polite, helpful & friendly. The hotel itself though is a bit run down. Tiles were missing from the wall in the bathroom, the bathroom was also a bit mouldy around the bath edges, and the wallpaper was peeling off the wall. We didn't try the food as we were told as we hadn't booked it would be up to an hour, so can't comment on that. Included with our booking we were able to use the pool facilities next door which overall was pretty good. Location is good, however the car park can be a bit of a challenge but later was informed we could also use the parking of the sister hotels included with our booking.
