About Walltree House Camping

If you're looking to take a break with a little group of friends or family, the setup at Walltree House Camping may well suit you rather well. Circular pitches here are mown into the long wild grass in clusters of three, with each cluster provided with a shared picnic table and firepit for free use – just the spot for quiet morning coffees or sociable evenings toasting marshmallows while the sun sets.

All of this is in the grounds of a smart B&B in a traditional stone farmhouse, out in the Northamptonshire countryside 10 minutes' drive from Brackley. Views all around are of open countryside, and it's easy to get out for more rural exploring – you can pretty much venture straight from your tent out onto public footpaths leading through field and woods to classic villages and country pubs.

Get in the driving seat instead and all sorts of day trips can be on the menu, including outings to Blenheim Palace, Silverstone and Stratford-upon-Avon. More intrepid visitors can sate their appetite for adventure at Hinton Airfield next door with skydiving, gliding and flying days, or challenge travelling companions at the paintballing centre. Rather more relaxing times in mind? Take a wander around the grounds to look out for remnants of World War II outbuildings and air-raid shelters, or simply settle down to watch the gliders overhead.

Amenities on site are simple but well thought out: the central block has hot showers, a washing-up area, electric points for gadget charging and a freezer to keep ice packs chilled.

Stayed on the campsite. Big pitches with picnic bench/table on each. Fire pit on each pitch. The toilet/shower/washing up block was in a rustic style wooden building with showers and toilets on each side of the structure. The toilets were spotless as were the showers and washing up area. The water for the shower was hot, perfect temperature, but short burst of water meant constantly pressing the button or holding it in whilst washing with one hand. A longer flow would be better. I get the likely eco thinking behind it, but it is a bit too short a water flow time. There was a small fridge and electric charging points/ plugs for phones etc. Beautiful area to stay adjoining farmland and the airfield(no aircraft noise at night or early morning), with infrequent daytime aircraft noise. It was fantastic watching skydivers parachute down onto the airfield. In the main a very peaceful and relaxing place. BUT(and I am sorry to have to mention this), at 2.45am I was awoken by somebody off the site and probably on the airfield somewhere, who decided it was a great time to start playing thumping bass rave type music. This lasted until 4am. At one point I got up and went to try and find where it was coming from. I walked a few hundred metres but couldn't see where the music was from. It isn't the camp site owners fault and was not anyone on the site. But it marred a great stay.

Lovely camping site. On the Saturday night I think it was the B&B that played really loud bass music until about 4:30am! Considering the camp site has to have their music off by 9pm and it cont be loud! This woke every camper up. Even our friends that sleep with ear plugs in. Watching the planes, gliding etc was nice to see though. Other than the music wouldn’t fault it.

I stay on this campsite frequently. Best value site in the area. Very well maintained site. Nice facilities. Next to an airfield (used for sky diving) but very rarely any aircraft making a noise. Easy communication with site management. Very peaceful. Nice view onto fields in the morning/evening.

Great campsite! Very clean facilities, lovely views. Very quiet midweek then got busier at the weekend but still plenty of space. Loved watching the skydivers - don’t be put off by the airfield next door, planes are all very small and it’s fun to watch them take off!
