About Wanderoo

Tucked into 17 hillside acres of the Brecon Beacons, Wanderoo is a beautifully converted horse wagon with an uncommon eye for detail. Tongue-and-groove walls over sheep-wool insulation, reclaimed-wood kitchen, wood burner and dual-aspect glazing create a snug, light-filled retreat for two. A king-size bed sits above the cab, and mornings begin with a hamper delivered from the owner's cottage to your private rear deck—the same spot where you'll watch sunsets blaze across the Black Mountain ranges come evening.

The commitment to luxury extends to your own shower annexe and a rather charming compost loo on stilts. With pick-up from public transport, renewable energy and nothing but forest, lake and mountain in every direction, this is off-grid romance done properly. Canoeing, climbing, fishing and mountain biking are all close by, though the real draw is simply stepping outside into some of the most dramatic wild scenery Wales has to offer.

What visitors say

We had four nights at Featheroo. We loved the peaceful woodland setting, especially seeing the dawn through the trees. The 180 degree floor-to-ceiling windows made it feel like we were immersed in the woods. The birdsong was amazing too. This is the best off-grid place we have been to - very quiet and secluded, well-equipped, comfortable bed, great outdoor shower/bath, and not far from interesting places to visit. Kathryn was very welcoming and helpful.

We stayed at the featheroo for two nights, Kathryn the own was very welcoming and nice upon arrival. The hut was really well presented and clean it felt cosy and homely. The outdoor bath was great and very warm despite the weather. The log burner inside was great and kept us warm on the evening creating a cosy night. Would definitely stay again:)

We stayed at Featheroo, the other property here & it was absolutely perfect. The outdoor bath & shower are magical, and the cabin is so cosy , clean & idyllic. It is incredibly private & the views are stunning. Kathryn was a wonderful host - 10/10 would recommend!

Absolutely amazing. The accommodation and hot tub are fantastic. We felt really well catered for and Kathryn has also mapped out lots of walks in the surrounding area to help you get the most out of this beautiful part of the world. One of the biggest highlights for us was the complete absence of light pollution. The amount of stars you can see on a clear night is truly breathtaking (even more so from the comfort of the hot tub). 100% recommended and would absolutely stay again.
