About New Gurkha Inn
Authentic Nepalese cooking is the heart of New Gurkha Inn, with curries, momos and lamb nettle curry served in generous portions and a warm, buzzing dining room that draws people in for the food as much as the stay. Staff are attentive and the whole operation runs with a friendly, first-class touch, while a bar on site means an evening drink is never far away.
Rooms are en-suite and family options are available, each with drinks provided and free WiFi throughout. Breakfast is included to start the day, and practical extras such as 24 hour reception, luggage storage and a laundry service make it a straightforward base whether stopping over or staying longer. There's a garden and outdoor seating for warmer days, plus meeting rooms for those combining business with the trip. Pets are welcome and free on-site parking is provided.
Set on Bronllys Road in Brecon, Powys, the hotel is well placed for walking, fishing and watersports nearby, with further pubs and restaurants within easy reach. The Brecon Mountain Railway adds a further point of interest for those wanting to explore beyond the town itself.

What guests say
Lovely place for a good quality, authentic Nepalese curry. Not alot of parking, and parking in the car park is tight. But.. you'll be here for the food, won't you. This was our first visit, and after alot of good quality recommendations from locals we gave it a go.. service was attentive but not intrusive, the obligatory "how's the food" showed up, and the answer was "excellent thank you", and we're weren't just being polite. Starters and mains ( for 2 ) with 4 extra side dishes, was £73. Very reasonable in my opinion. Are we glad we went? Absolutely! Would we reconnected to you guys and our friends.. again, absolutely. Well worth a visit.

Booked here for a meal for two on a Saturday Excellent food had katmundu chicken extra hot, very tasty. A very large dish easily for two I couldn’t finish mine, mushroom rice and garlic naan. Nice restaurant friendly staff We was served very quick and orders taken and food out quick A negative for me, the poppadum sauces warm, never experienced that before, once the meal was out no one came back to us to see if meal was ok or to take extra drinks etc . Overall good food and reasonably priced Would return again

Didnt stay, just food. Have been cooking indian and Thai food for 30 years and tried Indian food on several continents but in no way did I expect a small town in the middle of Talgarth to offer such an exceptionally good Takeaway. Chicken Zalfrezi ( hot) and a Korma for partner with some really good onion bhajis . Meat was tender, depth of flavor was exceptional and overall 10/10.

Review of the restaurant (not the Inn) - absolutely superb food. Everything was fresh, perfectly cooked and delicious. We went there as a family for a birthday dinner and it’s the first time ever where we all could have swapped meals and we would’ve been happy! The service as fantastic. Modest, friendly and welcoming. We will definitely go back 👍
