About Charlynch Meadow Camping

This gorgeous meadow with views of the Quantock Hills has been home to grazing sheep for generations before opening as a seasonal off-grid site. Just a mile and a half from the edge of the Quantock Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, it's ideal for hikers keen to explore the network of footpaths threading through Somerset's countryside. The family who farm here are happy to point you towards ambitious routes or the nearest pub – there's one in Four Forks village, a 10-minute walk away.

Campfires and barbecues are allowed, and a farm shop 35 minutes' walk away stocks local produce if you fancy upgrading your picnic game. The coast is within easy reach too: Kilve Beach for rockpooling and fossil hunting is 25 minutes' drive, while Minehead and Weston-super-Mare are 45 minutes away. Facilities are basic – portable toilets and no hot water – so this is one for those who relish a bit of wild camping simplicity.
